Together, We Can Make a Difference: Parks Project takes the concept of giving back to nature and applies a dash of environmental social enterprise. As a for profit business, we use the sale of an array of apparel and accessories to connect consumers with park conservancies. Each product purchased contributes directly to one of over 30 different conservancies across the USA, providing vital funding for the ongoing care of National Parks.
The lead merchant role is paramount in driving financial success through proper assortment planning, ruthless editing and strategic and tactical proactive operational planning in the field of sourcing and production.
This role works inherently with financial analyst; sourcing/production; leadership and the sales channel, with a maniacal and obsessive focus on e-commerce.

Financial
• Work with Financial analyst and leadership to develops financial objectives and accounts for the financial results of Parks Project; guides the creation of original Top-down/Bottom-up planning process.
• Sets strategic benchmark/guidelines and partners with Analyst, e-commerce lead and CEO on the planning of sales, margins, mark-ups, discounts, promotions, events, and advertisement; identifies business opportunities; revises plans as needed.
• Monitors gross margin monthly and takes actions as needed to meet the financial goals.
• Develops planning calendar process for event/seasonal based plans.
• Refines the receipt flow process to improve inventory turnover continuously.
• Drives Open to Buy process for the assigned division with buying team/analyst.
• Ensures excess inventories are reviewed with the buying team; recommends specific SKUs to move to support goals.
• Initiates analysis of historic and current trends in providing analytical support to buying team.
• Set Style and cc goals and DRIVE DOWN a ruthless reduction to cut long tail in 1./2. Establish a process on what to keep and what to eliminate.


Sourcing/Production
• Partners with sourcing and production to develop a robust, efficient and simple production operations plan
• Reduce vendors and printers to improve efficiency and margins
• Innovate with the partners to increase turn and free up cash flow
• Directs the team to develop new methodologies, as needed, to improve the planning process and results.
• Creates vision and direction to move the team forward; develops the process to keep the team current on system knowledge.
• Develops planning team; creates an environment that supports and rewards strong performance and professional growth.
• Establishes cross-functional relationships to promote best practices and process adherence; fosters teamwork.
• Demonstrates the creation and implementation of a transformational digital strategy

What You'll Need:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• 8-10 years of Merchandising experience in the retail industry with a strong focus on e-commerce (this is a must)
• Computer proficiency,
• Demonstrated knowledge and proven ability to identify trends in data analyses
• Accountable for results and holds self/others for results while championing the company culture; measures and celebrates successes.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop team through delegating challenging tasks and empowering them to make decisions; fosters fair, respectful, and supportive environment while providing honest and direct feedback. Has a track record of success in developing others to take on additional responsibilities.
• Must have a track record of taking consistently innovative approaches and maximize the outcomes.
• Stays current on the retail industry - competitors, trends (music and/or fashion), p&l components, and business in general.
• Proven ability to develop well thought out goals and plans with consideration to overall company objectives.
