Island Ventures is in search of the right candidate to join us on the island as an Assistant Manager for our multiple retail locations in Avalon, on beautiful Catalina Island.
ABOUT ISLAND VENTURES
Island Ventures is comprised of 3 retail stores on Catalina Island - Buoys & Gulls, Avalon Bay Company and Latitude 33. We are renowned for our customer service, high quality products and offer an enjoyable shopping experience to our customers.
Island Ventures success also extends to two luxury, boutique hotels and a homemade Ice Cream / Gelato store.
In addition to our year-round employees, Island Ventures hires seasonal employees from the United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa, South America, Europe, China and Thailand. We invite you to be a part of this diverse culture and unique experience meeting and working with people from all over the world.
LOCATION
Catalina Island is located 22 miles across the ocean, 1 hour from mainland Los Angeles (15 minutes by helicopter).
The Island boasts many opportunities for the sports enthusiast. Endless hiking possibilities bundled with a multitude of water sport activities give Catalina a unique location with diverse opportunities and possibilities, all at your fingertips.
Daily departures to and from the mainland (Long Beach, San Pedro and Dana Point) allow you to travel to mainland California on your days off.
Relocation is required for this position.
HOUSING
Island Ventures has limited housing available which would be subsidized by the company. These modern town homes are located just steps from the beach and only a couple of minutes from the town center of Avalon.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in the responsibility for three retail stores
• Manage with integrity and honesty
• Consistently create a welcoming environment for the customer by offering a high level of service
• Demonstrate desired behavior for staff including driving sales, handling difficult or complicated sales, cash management, inventory, and follow-up with customers
• Provide a strong leadership presence and control in store
• Focus on productivity to meet sales goals
• Regularly communicate with management to discuss strengths, opportunities, and trends in business
• Assist in training and development of new staff members
• Assist management in delivering consistent, in the moment, feedback and coaching
• Ensure company standards are met for store and associate appearance at all times
• Receive regular vendor deliveries and stock sales floor in a timely manner
• Responsible for controlling inventory stock levels and reordering as necessary
• Enforce all company policies and procedures
• Manage and control shrink
• Perform all duties as directed by supervisor
