We are currently seeking a Country Category Manager in the US for Salomon Footwear. The Country Category Manager is the primary interface between the Salomon footwear commercial team, and the RSM’s and Territory Managers. The Country Category Manager enables the execution of the footwear category’s commercial plan in the U.S. market by translating it into a specific, measurable execution plan to support the sales force in implementing commercial strategy. The position serves as the overall category enabler & a key contact to the sales force. The role is instrumental in developing channel opportunities, primarily in the specialty channels, and leading strategic projects.

The responsibilities of this role can be divided into pre-season & in-season activities;

Pre-Season
• Support the Country Commercial Manager (CCM) in creating the “GTM Toolbox”; that is, the seasonal launch package which provides specific implementation supports by channel for the field.
• Enable channel-specific (including strategic account specific) implementation of the commercial plan by identifying channel-specific objectives & required supports.
• Translate season-specific KPI’s that measure performance against both the Key Business Drivers (KBD’s) and season-specific business objectives by channel.
• Set targets, validate them through the sales organization, & deploy them through the Directors of Sales and Regional Sales Managers.
• Prepare & lead elements of the seasonal launch meetings.
• Act as the “relay” between the commercial organization and sales in the hand-off of the commercial plan for in-market implementation.
• Train the sales team on the seasonal commercial plan.
• Augment capability in the field teams, including Territory Managers/Reps, through coaching on appropriate assortments by channels (CRA), category development concepts and relevant marketing support in collaboration with sales and marketing.
• Deploy customer segmentation & targeting guidance to the field.
• Provide planned and ad hoc coaching on footwear category products, technologies, key retail concepts, product stories, and category-related selling arguments.
• Support RSMs, SAMs, NAMs and Territory Reps in pre-line and preview meetings with accounts.

In-Season
• Track the commercial KPI’s.
• Monitor achievement & make interventions as appropriate.
• Devise & drive successful sell-thru programs; put in place re-order programs to maximize sales from the season.
• Create plans & manage activities through the sales force to animate the brand in-store.
• Support the field and strategic account sales force in the successful implementation of the Footwear strategy “Grow the Core / Grow from the Core” at the door level (in new doors & existing doors). Grow sales per door and develop category doors in a sustainable manner.
• Collect and synthesize local consumer & market trends to be provided to the global or regional brand organization.

Job Requirements

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. We are looking for a candidate with 5+ years in sales, category and/or merchandising roles, preferable in a footwear category organization and outdoor industry. This position will require approximately 60% domestic and international travel.
