We are currently looking for several positions in the apparel design department to join our team in Sunnyvale, CA (San Francisco Bay Area). This position is perfect for a recent college grad, or for someone with 3-5 years of outdoor apparel design experience who is looking to take the next step in their career.

Responsibilities:

The Primary responsibilities of the Designer are to provide design work of outdoor lifestyle apparel including and not limited to active apparel, outerwear, and lifestyle clothing. You are accountable for the creative production of the new product designs each season. Specifically, you are responsible for:

1. Design the garments for each season by working closely with the merchandising team and the product development team to steer the creative direction of the seasonal line plan. Actively work to promote the product vision and brand positioning across the product division
2. Ability to create line draw and color cads for use in tech packs, presentations and retail catalogs. Responsible for the management and the update of changes to the cads as the line develops.
3. Development and management of the Tech Packs for all garments
4. Manage the color and fabric trims approval for each season
5. Work with the product development team from concept, through prototype, 1st fit, Photo Samples, and Salesman samples through the fit approval process
6. Create design concept boards to communicate the design and color direction for each season.
7. Ability to lead fit discussions on fit model and work closely with the technical designer to attain desired look and fit
8. Create and work with a design schedule to ensure timely completion of the product development calendar
9. Must be able to measure garments and understand garment construction, including a detailed knowledge of seam construction and types of stitches
10. Work with Shanghai development office to source materials and develop innovative fabrications; while communicating with factories in Asia
11. Possible travel for consumer and product research & to Asia to accomplish work outlined above
12. Ability to create line draw and color cads for use in tech packs, presentations and retail catalogs. Responsible for the management and the update of changes to the cads as the line develops.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
• Degree in Apparel Design, Retail Merchandising or a related field
• At least 1 year design experience in the Outdoor, Athletic or Sportswear industries
• Understanding of the product development, fitting and manufacturing process
• Current design market knowledge & awareness of retail fashion trends, fabrication and product innovation
• Current industry awareness in retail marketing, merchandising, and brand positioning
• Thorough PC knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office & the Adobe Creative Suite
• Competency in WebPDM (or similar data-based program) and Point Carret are a plus

Skills:
• Good organization ability and process adherence
• Good time-management skills
• Solution-orientated problem solving skills
• Ability to work within a team of diverse individuals
• Accountability for his/her responsibilities
