The Labor & Employee Relations Director will be responsible for influencing the continued development of REI’s labor strategy across the co-op. This leader will accomplish their goals by assuming responsibility for all labor – management relationships affecting the co-op and building a team to execute the co-op's strategy across all business segments.

This leader acts as an advisor & facilitator across the co-op to develop and integrate labor’s strategic initiatives across the business lines in partnership with cross-functional leaders that impact the co-op's people and culture. This includes HR, Legal, Communications, Marketing, and Community Impact & Engagement. The leader must think proactively, anticipating issues, assessing risk, and offering solutions to navigate the Co-op's labor & employee relations risk. The Labor & Employee Relations Director will lead core practices of employee engagement work and will provide direction to cultivate a positive culture. The leader will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Labor Relations team.

! Responsible for the overall goals and objectives of the labor relations team.
! Builds, influences, aligns and drives the labor strategy across the co-op.
! Provides subject matter expertise in collaboration with management to determine the needs of the business (quality, safety, performance, etc.) and develop strategies for ensuring those needs are met in our labor/management relationships.
! Conducts negotiations on behalf of the co-op that meets the needs of the business, our employees, and our members.
! Act as the subject matter expert re: contract negotiations and responding to union organizing. Coordinating heavily with legal, outside counsel, and senior business leaders to address the issues that create the most risk for the organization.
! Provide strategic direction and manage precedent setting issues or cases that come up that could have a significant impact to the business and operations.
! Travel – 40-50%
! Explores alternative solutions and process improvements through lessons learned, providing recommendations and implementation
! Applies strong analytical skills and attention to detail to understand complex problems and root causes, leveraging quantitative and qualitative data to develop insights, guide decisions, and formulate solutions. Design, collect, and analyze data to identify trends and potential risk areas associated with climate surveys and assessments
! Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the employee experience and help develop and implement innovative solutions and policies

Bring your passion and expertise

! Bachelor’s Degree and at least 12+ years’ experience with union and non-union environments responsible for labor and employee relations
! JD or Masters in HR/Industrial Relations preferred
! Hands on experience supporting senior business leaders, responding to labor/union matters, first chair union contract negotiations, manage 7+ union organizing campaigns, and creating employee engagement activities across a multi-site organization (>10,000 employees)
! 7+ years Management experience in a leadership role.
! Consulting & collaboration – skilled at consulting with wide variety of partner types and navigating unchartered territory
! Project management – stakeholder engagement and program execution and change management
! Data analysis – can leverage quantitative and qualitative data to enable informed decision making
! Must have flexibility to travel to sites across the United States up to 50% of the time
! Ability to build strong working relationships and work collaboratively across all levels of the organization, including remote areas and in manufacturing environments
! Proactive and self-directed with ability to manage/complete multiple projects with competing deadlines
! Clearly conveys and accurately receives information by a variety of methods and in various situations

Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic location or other relevant factors.

The pay for this role is: $137500 - $233900 per year .
