The leader of this area reports directly to the CIO and is a trusted advisor and partner of the IT senior leadership team. We are looking for an intellectually curious, inspiring leader with a passion for creating a learning culture. The ideal candidate has a point of view regarding how IT management practices can enable a nimble, cost effective operating model to fuel the long-term success of the co-op. They can envision a path forward, working in partnership with business and IT leaders, to improve our operational practices. Responsibilities range from establishing and leading the organizations continuous improvement agenda to owning several IT operational processes. Core processes include investment planning, financial budgeting/forecasting, sourcing, project/program management and IT performance management. Current focal areas for the continuous improvement agenda include financial process simplification and flexible labor sourcing. This leader is a key partner of Finance, Strategic Sourcing, and HR for executing and improving ongoing operational processes. IT Planning - Oversees the IT Planning process which includes the following: • Accountable for directing the preparation, review and consolidation of IT plans and budgets • Develops, maintains and enhances the process for IT quarterly and annual planning • Provides recommendations to drive cost down across the enterprise based on internal and external benchmarks • Facilitates the Governance program for all IT investments to include auditing and reporting against strategy and KPIs for large initiatives • Implements the resource demand and capacity programs for all project and non-project efforts • Ensures compliance on all IT Audits and Compliance efforts • Directs IT Benchmarks and Performance Scorecards • Oversees the IT Business Operations Office, which includes the following: • In partnership with IT Leaders, Finance and Strategic sourcing, ensures the appropriate financial and strategic sourcing services are available to effectively manage the IT organization • Oversees the development and maintenance of IT policies, procedures, methodologies and governance as well as performance management frameworks and metrics to optimize value delivery for the co-op • Accountable to measure and maintain IT Benchmarking metrics (e.g., cost, service level, vendor scorecards, IT Maturity model) • Create and evolve IT workforce management strategy in line with co-op needs and industry best practices • Oversees IT administrative function • Accountable for IT hardware and software asset and configuration management tracking and compliance • Oversees IT Community and Outreach programs, inclusive of university relationships Project Management - Oversees the IT Project Management Office which includes the following: • Responsible for the overall IT Project Governance Process including process definition, improvement and execution. • Fosters the advancement of project management methodologies, best practices and standards (e.g., waterfall, agile, etc.) • Oversees the development and use of project policies, procedures, templates and other shared documentation • Accountable for ensuring business cases, estimates, resource demand and risks have been identified for major enterprise wide programs and projects IT Process Improvements - Oversees the IT Operational Optimization Office which includes the following: • Establishes and implements continuous improvement programs for the IT organization • Integrates improvement initiatives to create a culture of continuous improvement ensuring achievement of departmental goals IT Communications: • Directs the creation, maintenance, and publication of the following IT communications: Quarterly business reviews, President’s reports, Town Hall presentations • Directs the creation, maintenance, and publication IT change management and employee engagement communications Bring your passion and expertise Bachelor’s degree in computer science or business administration, or equivalent training and experience 10 years of progressive information technology management with demonstrated ability to lead IT operational processes (Business Management, Project/Program Management, Investment Planning, Financial management, Vendor Mgmt, Communications), IT process improvement, infrastructure support, and IT governance Progressive experience managing technology functions and technology capital projects for large multi-unit companies through information technology general management Thoughtful point of view on industry and best practices for driving IT operational effectiveness and efficiencies Experience managing IT project governance processes Experience developing department-level strategic plans, business plans and annual budgets Knowledge of business principles from multiple disciplines and ability to apply those principles to achieve results in cross-functional projects and activities A strong team player with a reputation for building exceptional teams. A motivator of talent. with the ability to mentor IT talent and create a deep talent pipeline. Ability to negotiate contracts and agreements with information technology product and service vendors Be a change agent.
