Accountable for maintaining effective vendor and internal relationships and communications with Merchandising Product teams, Co-op Brands, vendor partners and various cross-divisional colleagues. This position is critical to REI’s growing rental business. Additionally, the person within the role models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission. Business (Create, deliver, execute and manage detailed plans) • Drives vendor accountability for delivery accuracy and timeliness and negotiates to achieve profitability goals Briefing leadership • Leads the development and implementation of processes and timelines to procure rental product • Working knowledge of the source-to-pay process for product procurement in the Merchandising Division • Ensures program quality and success through management of project action items, issues and decisions, identifying resource needs, meeting deadlines for deliverables, and customer service standards • Prepares requirements, specifications, business tools, and recommendations to ensure operational efficiency Team (demonstrate expertise, leadership and teamwork) • Team with Co-op brands on rental product development and procurement • Partner with Merch Product Teams and Rentals Project Manager to select best-use rental product and volume • Drive development of program process documentation • Leads and develops programs and projects that transform process, policy and systems • Leads collaboration with cross-divisional stakeholders to drive alignment and accountability Self (continue to grow to make the business better) • Pursue self-development through work with your Manager, training and networking • Develop change management skills to thrive in an expanding work environment • Participate in cross-functional project opportunities to gain Co-op wide perspective Bring your passion and expertise • 2+ yrs professional experience including Merchandising Operations and Buying • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Retail Merchandising and Management • 2+ yrs of experience with product inventory analysis, acquisition, allocation, and management for multiple stores and direct sales • Proficiency with MS Office products including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint • Proficiency with Merch buying processes, and use of relevant systems and tools • Experience working with contract negotiations and legal agreements • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Actively participates and collaborates with others within team and across REI for the achievement of business goals • Very strong product knowledge of the majority of REI products through use and experience • Strong presentation skills including PowerPoint deck generation and delivery to various levels of audiences • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and work independently to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines • Flexible in one’s viewpoints and positions in order to support the direction taken by others at REI • Works smart by setting effective work goals, establishing priorities, and planning well in order to produce quality work • Challenges the status quo, champions change and influences others to change. • Executes effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals Why you'll love it here We’re a passionate community of people who believe in one simple truth: an outdoor life is a life well-lived.
