This role works closely with the Retail Director and market leaders to ensure the consistency and quality of REI’s cycling and snowsports service and sales while identifying and enabling regionally specific offerings. Additionally, the Market Shop Coordinator drives productivity and profitability of the Shop and Action Sports departments while heightening the customer experience. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission. As a leader in a region, the Market Shop Coordinator identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the organization promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results. • Provides direction, leadership, and cross-divisional partnerships through expertise and influence. • Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances, and issues, and takes appropriate action. • Promotes the growth of the Shop program by increasing service efficiency, Shop productivity, and staff training practices. • Leads or supports projects and programs that meet stated business objectives. • Identifies unique regional opportunities to create new exposure and growth of Shop services and departmental sales. • Refines and reimagines procurement of Shop consumables and miscellaneous parts inventory. • Utilizes Lean principles to identify waste within the Shop and works with store teams to make improvements. • Analyze and monitor Shop service sales and metrics to track progress and growth, share results with Store Management teams, Retail Operations, and Retail Director when appropriate. • Enables a market inventory mindset for bikes and snowsports hardgoods by coordinating and conducting intermarket transfers. Monitors and reacts to regional business trends accordingly. • Ensures quality, consistency, and integrity of technical services provided, directly audits repair efficiency, provides feedback or training when needed. Ensures employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements. • Ensures quality, consistency, and accuracy of sales and fitting practices in the bike and snow sports departments. • Provides ongoing technical training on services and products that are new to the industry. Attends brand specific training and shares relevant content to market stores to elevate expertise. • Ensures service advisors are properly educated in REI’s technical service offerings and provides necessary feedback and training to maximize service sales and Shop productivity. Works with an Action Sports team to ensure a cohesive bond between Action Sports and Shop exists. • Partners with Retail Directors, Merchants, Retail Operations, and market leaders to define and correct areas of opportunity within the Shop and Action Sports departments. • Works directly with Retail Sales Managers and Store Managers to expose gaps in-store specific Shop operations and prescribe corrective action. Holds Retail Sales Manager accountable for necessary change management. • Partners with store management teams and staff to ensure appropriate and efficient scheduling, training, and ensures certifications are facilitated and renewed as necessary. • Organizes and facilitates centralized training when necessary to ensure market consistency and minimize impacts to payroll. Develops relevant centralized service programs to meet market demands and react to specialized business trends. (I.e. suspension service, eBike repair, etc.) • Consults with store management teams on staff recruitment, hiring, and ongoing development. Monitors and engages in any necessary coaching or change management. • Provides coaching, direction, and leadership support to employees in order to achieve department, company and customer results. • Partners with Outdoor Programs and local organizations to elevate REI’s authenticity and presence in the cycling and snowsports communities to create new events and in-store classes & clinics. Bring your passion and expertise • 5+ years experience in Bike & Ski Shop management and a leader in regional Shop program in performance and technical knowledge. • Ability to affect and manage multi-faceted change across the market both remotely and in-person. • Demonstrated ability to facilitate technical training, experienced presenter and facilitator. • Demonstrated strong understanding and connection to local cycling and snowsports culture, able to identify local trends and opportunities preferred • Self-motivated with demonstrated strategic thinking skills and a broad understanding of retail concepts. • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Budget management experience preferred Why you'll love it here We’re a passionate community of people who believe in one simple truth: an outdoor life is a life well-lived.
