The Customer Platforms Product Manager will develop a clear and compelling product vision and will work directly with a cross-functional team of technology and design partners to deliver industry-leading cross-channel experiences to our customers. This role will monitor trends and emerging technologies and assess how new opportunities can be leveraged to connect people to our co-op and create a seamless experience. The customer platforms product manager contributes to the ongoing definition of cross-channel technology strategy, leads high-impact development initiatives, and acts as a representative in cross-divisional forums. You will act as a product evangelist to key stakeholders at all levels of the organization. • Through direct engagement, develops a thorough understanding of our customers and uses this understanding to identify problems for which our customers desire solutions. • Works directly with software teams operating in an Agile development shop to define and build solutions that delight our customers and deliver value to the business. • Creates the vision for their assigned product and evangelizes for it throughout the organization. • Works collaboratively across the organization to develop product strategies and the product roadmap necessary to deliver against them. • Develops and maintains strong relationships and communications with stakeholders. • Guides thorough product discovery to validate that a given problem is worth solving, verify that it can be solved given existing constraints, and define what the solution will be. • Creates and maintains a product backlog that delivers value against defined key performance indicators. • Ensures that the software team is focused on work that delivers the most value, most quickly. • Supports, champions, and actively contributes to REI’s Digital strategy and roadmap. • Advocates supports and contributes to ongoing improvement of Agile/Scrum practice. • Uses business knowledge, observational data, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities. Bring your passion and expertise • 3+ years or equivalent experience serving as a product manager in medium to large product areas with both a business and a technology focus. Experience working with customer accounts, profiles, authentication, and authorization a plus. • 3+ years or equivalent experience leading product development and digital strategy. • Demonstrated competency with new and emerging cross-channel and web-based technologies, applications and trends. • Agile/Scrum team experience. • Demonstrated experience leading a team of designers and technologists in the discovery and definition of new product features that solve real customer problems. • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience. • Flexibility in one's viewpoints and positions in order to support the direction taken by others at REI. • Ability to consolidate information from various sources including feedback from others to reach sound decisions. • Consideration for the ultimate impact of decisions and actions on internal and external customers. • Ability to work smart by setting effective work goals, establishing priorities, and planning well in order to produce quality work. • Demonstrably effective at execution, through the efficient use of resources, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals. • Ability to build rapport with all kinds of people inside and outside the organization. • Experience challenging the status quo, champion progress, and influence others to evolve.
