What's cool about this job The Business Capabilities Process Manager-Procurement contributes to REI’s success by owning the design, development, and delivery of critical Procurement Business Capabilities that will enable REI’s future Merchandising and Supply Chain strategies. This strategic Product Management role will work with Merchandising and Supply Chain Business Partners and IT to develop and influence the Procurement Business Capability Roadmap and priorities, develop plans of how to “bring the capabilities to life” through proposed projects/solutions (business process and technology) and help drive overall delivery and end user adoption of these solutions. This role will be intricate in representing Merchandising in select company-wide projects to ensure holistic planning and delivery of cross divisional business processes and solutions. Key Responsibilities Procurement Subject Matter Expertise • Function as the Procurement subject matter expert in business functionality, end to end processes, data flow, and functional architecture of systems supported • Develop and maintain a complete working knowledge of REI Merchandising and Supply Chain holistic processes, procedures, and current applications as well as future solutions General Project Management • Lead and execute medium to large sized Procurement capability projects in collaboration with cross divisional partners, most significantly IT • Develop business focused project plans, that rollup into the broader IT project and program plans, and drive to deliver and meet all project deadlines, milestones, release dates and schedules • Apply project management best practices and standards and advocate them across the teams and organizations • Participate and help drive project related governance meetings (e.g. steering committees, status meetings, etc.) as a business lead Roadmap/Operating Model • Co-identify and plan strategic Procurement capabilities with cross functional partners to enable REI’s Merchandising strategies • Provide recommendations on capability implementation strategies, timelines and resource requirements to achieve business initiative project objectives • Provide input to the overall Merchandising Portfolio in terms of project timing and dependencies of the various related business initiatives and projects • Design, develop and deliver presentations that educate, inform, and influence critical business decisions of Merchants and other Business Leaders • Assist in backlog requirements grooming/prioritization sessions to ensure sign-off by business and development teams for all projects Discovery and Requirements Gathering • Assist in building, socializing and communicating initial business cases and project value propositions at all levels of the organization • Lead business working sessions and/or interviews for requirements gathering sessions that may act as an input into vendor RFPs • Interprets business needs, builds requirement or user stories, and guides solution development on behalf of Merchandising • Identify and recommend tools or applications that achieve positive business results, enabling industry standard processes and leading best practices Business Process Design • Analyze, interpret and strive to improve Procurement specific business processes to support strategies, capabilities and key projects • Lead and participate in business process design workshops, advocating for the business users, understanding and enabling industry leading best practices across multiple merchandising disciplines • Map “as is” and “to be” business processes with the team and understand and analyzes gaps providing recommended solutions • Support the implementation of industry best practices, company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote REI key messages Change Management/Training • Work hand-in-hand with Change Management and Training to help identify initial impact assessments, the change management and training strategies, and associated communication plans • Assist with Change Management and Training in the physical training and rollout plans for new systems or enhancements to existing systems • Act as a Change Champion with the business in communicating and supporting the new process or technology capabilities UAT Strategy and Execution • Own developing, planning and socializing the UAT Strategy with cross divisional partners • QA and approve UAT Test Scripts developed by your team • Own execution of UAT activities with the Business and IT Business Go Live Planning and Communications • Work with the Business, IT, and Change Management and Training partners to develop the business go live/rollout strategy and communications plan • Executes the Business Go Live Plan with identified business partners Post Go Live Support • Collaborates with Change Management and Training to conduct post go live adoption end user adoption and training support Bring your passion and expertise • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Supply Chain or related field • 5+ years professional Retail Industry or consulting experience preferably in Merchandising Procurement with knowledge of the end-to-end retail model (Merchandising, Supply Chain, Operations) • 3+ years of business process design and improvement experience (e.g. Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen) with a focus in Merchandising Procurement • 3+ years of project management-oriented delivery experience and methodologies in Merchandising, Supply Chain, or Operations • Experience in implementing Enterprise Merchandising ERP (SAP) and Procurement Solutions (e.g. Vendor Drop Ship, Cross Dock, Order Management, etc.) • Ability to work and act as the conduit/translator between Merchandising Business and IT Partners • Actively manages a team of 2-4 Senior Business Process Analyst focused on working effectively and efficiently through setting work goals, establishing priorities, and checking in on progress, while also focusing on professional development • Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities • Strong analytical skills with ability to think critically, from both an operational and financial perspective, when solutioning end-to-end and related identifying impacts • Team player that openly, actively and flexibly collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals • Proficient in developing executive level communications, statuses and presentation materials • Effective and articulate communication in all modes and all levels in an organization • Strong self-starter with ability to self-educate and learn while doing in a highly complex and rapidly changing environment • Advanced computer skills, to include, but not limited to: Microsoft
