You will serve as a liaison between the business and Information Technology to ensure business needs and requirements are understood, valued, prioritized and communicated for large, cross-divisional projects. The REI Principal Business Systems Analyst is a leadership role in the community of business analysis on all Enterprise Systems projects to ensure they are implemented on time, on budget, and to specifications. Planning: Contributes to corporate and divisional strategic planning process by helping identify and capture business initiatives: • Manages/Engages Stakeholders • Identifies cross-divisional dependencies and impacts • Contributes to financial and business value analysis • Participates in periodic planning and prioritization negotiations Business Case Creation: Contributes to compelling business cases which measure and communicate proposed project benefits, coordinating with the PMO, Architecture, Finance and other disciplines: • Understands the business need and can communicate proposed project benefits • Traces strategy to solution • Articulates the business impact of business problems in a compelling business case and understands the organization’s economic and revenue drivers • Articulates the overall value to the organization to be delivered by the project • Presents to senior IT leadership as needed to secure necessary funding Requirements Management: Identifies and documents a desired future state that addresses a business problem which manages requirements to the smallest set that will provide the biggest impact in advancing business objectives: • Documents and analyzes existing or ‘as-is’ business processes and data concepts • Designs new or ‘to-be’ business processes and data concepts • Maps “as is” and “to be” business processes and conceptual data, understands gaps, and develops transition plans • Facilitates, elicits, gathers, documents, validates, and prioritizes competing business requirement demands and establishes baseline business requirements with testability and traceability of business value delivered • Assesses the risks of various solution options • Uses the appropriate requirements elicitation approach (User stories, Business requirements documents, etc.) to document requirements • Can articulate specifications with team and answer questions • Manages changes to the requirements baseline and maintains requirements for reuse • Provides deployment support • Leads peer reviews of requirements deliverables Systems Knowledge, Design, & Architecture: Understands business functionality, interfaces, data flow, and functional architecture of systems supported: • Ensures solution design meets user requirements • Able to troubleshoot functional system problems, especially when supporting end-user testing and training • Has an in-depth understanding of knowledge workers’ information needs as they relate to a potential solution • Can explain solution features and their value to a trainer and can route support requests to the appropriate team member for assistance Methodologies & Other Functional Competencies: • Practices waterfall and agile SDLC methodologies • Manages business relationships & facilitate alignment meetings • Provides leadership in the Business Analysis Community of Practice • Demonstrates creative thinking, decision-making, leaning, problem-solving, systems thinking, personal ethics, organizational skills and trustworthiness • Possesses knowledge of business principles and practices, industry, organizational, and solution knowledge and general purpose and specialized applications • Demonstrates excellent oral & written communications, teaching, facilitation & negotiation, leadership & influencing skills and ability to work as a member or leader of a team • Effectively coordinates project delivery with the project management office or equivalent • Help define and adhere to best practices within the community Bring your passion and expertise • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business Management or related field, or equivalent training and experience • 7+ years direct work experience as a Senior Business Analyst or Business Analyst on large scale programs or portfolios • Previous experience in a multi-channel retail environment is preferred • Direct work experience with SAP • 3+ years working with saas solutions • Direct work experience with waterfall and agile SDLC methodologies • Demonstrated expertise with both business and systems processes and an ability to understand and explain issues from both a technical and a business functional point of view • Demonstrated expertise in creating compelling business cases which express business need, communicate proposed project benefits and demonstrate business impacts • Exceptional oral & written communications, teaching, facilitation & negotiation, leadership & influencing skills • Demonstrated expertise in the facilitation, identification, validation, documentation prioritization and management of business requirements (use cases, data modeling, process modeling, context diagrams, systems diagrams, etc.) • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflict • Ability to conceptualize and recommend solutions to business problems • IT project management experience • Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate project delivery with the project management
