The Domain Architect job is a senior role with accountability for ensuring high architecture quality across a broad set of software applications as well as ensuring business performance targets are achieved through the contribution of the underlying systems architecture. Domain Architects partner closely with portfolio planning teams to shape solution architectures during the demand management/intake processes and take a leadership role for our Solution Architects that are responsible for delivering solutions defined by the Domain Architect. It is a critical architecture role in REI and part of REI’s Architecture community.
• Accountable for ensuring their domain’s architecture quality; performance, security, availability, and flexibility
• Responsible for ensuring business performance targets are achieved via their architecture-related contribution to project delivery
• Accountable for technology decisions not already defined by Enterprise Architecture in their process domain including development technologies, infrastructure, and vendor packages
• Accountable for defining the Solution Architectures for proposed projects during Demand Management/Intake processes
• Accountable for defining Architecture Policies, Principles, and Standards for their domain
• Accountable for assigning Solution Architects to projects managed by their domain’s project portfolio
• Accountable for documenting the process, information and system architectures for their domain using templates and tools provided by the Enterprise Architecture team
• Accountable for managing the application portfolio (application lifecycles and investment disposition) for applications scoped to their domain
• Advocates and champions of Enterprise Architecture concerns to project teams managed by their domain’s project portfolio
Bring your passion and expertise
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other related technology degree
• 10+ years as a Security Domain expert having worked in an Enterprise scale distributed computing environment
• A proven track record in being able to build out a Security strategy with the ability to align it with an effective, efficient run it model
• Ability to define business value and shape solutions to achieve business value at the lowest cost and at the fastest duration possible
• Ability to manage an application portfolio and its transformation to a future state
• Ability to scope solution architectures to contribute to estimation activities
• Ability to use and communicate system design patterns and anti-patterns to improve system quality
• Ability to manage solution architecture design to align to business value
• Ability to develop and manage architecture models such as activity models, class models and data models
• Minimum of 8 years developing real world scaled solutions with knowledge of full application development lifecycle (SDLC) and methodologies; waterfall, agile and hybrid
• Business process design and analysis
• Excellent presentation, verbal, written, and listening skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills including collaboration, facilitation and negotiation
