Your focus will be helping to galvanize and engage our 13,000+ employees through events and cultural moments that are unique to the co-op.

As the co-op prepares for a headquarters move, you’ll focus on delivering an engagement strategy that will support employees and the co-op through this critical moment of transition. You’ll contribute to REI’s success by supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of a remarkably positive experience for employees leading up to, during, and following the move itself. The goal? To support employees, elevate our culture, brand, and reputation, and ensure business continuity through this important time of change. In addition, you’ll support other events and important moments for the co-op as needed.

You’ll achieve this through solid project management skill and ability to flex in quickly changing conditions. You will be a creative, self-starting team member with the ability to influence and collaborate with peers in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and complex, cross-divisional projects. You will demonstrate an outstanding track record in the craft of written and multimedia communications. You thrive on fast-moving, dynamic work, and easily toggle between workstreams. You have a strong team ethic, pitching in to do what needs to be done to bring these moments to life. And, of course, you love the outdoors.

Event, Recognition + Communication support:

! Works with team to execute event plans, partnering with cross-divisional partners and external vendors

! Supports a variety of tactical event, recognition + communication work streams (creative, production, logistics travel planning, technology, etc.)

! Supports content development—including writing, designing, editing, and publishing—of written and multi-media content for internal web, email and print channels.

! Creates and helps manage event staffing plans and team of volunteers.

! Manages complex systems for shipping, storage, and maintenance of supplies.

! Supports recognition program execution: data collection + distribution, certificates, gifts, more.

! Craft + edit communications; emails, creative briefs, proposals, instructions, toolkits, FAQ, recaps, etc.

! Support on-site logistics as well as pre-event site visits.

! Monitors event, recognition, campus, and internal comms mailboxes and respond to inquiries as appropriate.

! Supports the full internal comms + events team with leadership + strategy programs and projects.

! Contributes to employee launches of key brand moments with tactical support

! Manages self-service tools for partners across the business to run successful events.

Project management:

! Effectively + efficiently plans for and leads all assigned workstreams for events + programs.

! Builds thorough project plans, timelines. Manages plans + timelines with acute attention to detail, including quick identification of issues + critical dependencies.

! Able to manage detailed databases of attendee and award recipient data.

! Handles confidential information with utmost integrity. Connects working team together through project team updates, meetings, solid cross-team communication.

! Maintains and manages files and assets for the team.

! Adheres to and manages budgets.

Bring your passion and expertise

! 2+ years of event planning experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
! 2+ years of project management experience, demonstrated ability to work on more than 1 project, program or event at a time.
! 1+ years communication specialist experience in a corporate environment.
! Experience with REI’s brand in a retail store or distribution center.
! First-class writing and editing experience in a variety of media.
! Excellent organizational, planning and troubleshooting skills; proven ability to achieve deadlines and effective manage multiple demands.
! Ability to work long and varied hours; travel occasionally.
! Savvy with a variety of technology platforms including Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access; using + maintaining multiple versions of SharePoint; doing mail merges; email and web searches. Proficient with other technology platforms including online registration tools, online surveys, and digital apps
! Experience designing effective communications in web and email designers.
! Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environment, juggling competing priorities.
! Proven ability to take input and develop effective event logistics that achieve company goals. Ability to present and sell ideas to event project teams and stakeholders.
! Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
! Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.
! Works smart by setting effective work goals, establishing priorities, and planning well in order to produce quality work.
! Ability to utilize remote working tools, with dispersed partners and independently.
! Background or interest in behavior change or organizational psychology.
