The Strategy team at REI is responsible for developing the co-op’s long-term vision, key enterprise objectives and goals, and transformation strategy and plan. The Senior Strategy Analyst contributes to REI’s success by supporting the development of strategic plans for the enterprise and key initiatives, informing/challenging our thinking, and ensuring our strategies and plans are grounded in solid analytics and business cases. This role is also responsible for partnering on complex analyses around strategy development and planning, monitoring key competitive threats/opportunities, evaluating our performance versus the industry, and providing analytical support around our strategic and transformation priorities and plans. This is a high visibility analyst role which will partner directly with executive and senior leaders to support and drive critical strategic analyses.

! Supports enterprise strategy development and planning to create REI's strategic transformation plans and economic model (in partnership with FP&A), and annual plan and priorities
! Conducts complex analyses of current and future strategic initiatives/ driving analytical support for the business cases backing our enterprise strategic initiatives
! Conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses to provide senior leadership and key cross-divisional partners with insights about the market, industry, vendors, key competitors, and customers to be used as key inputs in strategy development across the enterprise
! Supports and creates reports and presentations for senior leaders, the Board of Directors, and the broader co-op regarding key strategic initiatives as well as competitive, retail, and industry trends
! Supports the creation, analysis, tracking, and reporting against key strategic enterprise metrics and objectives, contributing to our strategic and annual plans and regular business reviews
! Partners on business & corporate development efforts including analyzing opportunities to accelerate our transformation such as white space assessments, new business models, M&A, and strategic partnerships
! Drives proactive ad-hoc financial analysis by identifying what information is needed, where the data can be found and how it should be compiled, analyzed & presented
! Leverages existing industry and competitive intelligence data providers and evaluates new tools and data sources
! May help support synthesizing and tracking status/progress for strategic plans, initiatives, and key outcomes
! May contribute to the development of executive reports on status and progress of strategic plans
! Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the organization promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results
! Supports the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote REI key messages
! Challenges and inspires employees to achieve business results
! Ensures employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements
! Oversees training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions
! Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews
! Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to employees in order to achieve department, company and customer results
! Establishes and maintains visibility within the department
! Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances and issues, and takes appropriate action

Bring your passion and expertise

! 5+ years of demonstrated experience in industry and competitive analysis, modeling, and financial analysis experience
! 2+ years work experience within consumer, finance, management consulting, or technology organizations
! Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business or similar Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze and objectively solve problems
! Analytical mindset and ability to synthesize complex information, connect ideas with data, and present in digestible, easy to understand format
! Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, and effectively manage and meet multiple, simultaneous deadlines with minimum assistance
! Demonstrated project management skills exercising sound judgment while displaying initiative and innovation on the job
! Excellent follow through and attention to detail and accuracy
! Excellent written and verbal communication skills
! Advanced PC experience working with Windows, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
! Experience with Tableau preferred
! Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals.
! Consolidates information from various sources including feedback from others to reach sound business cases & decisions
! Effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with all levels within and outside of the organization
! Works smart by setting effective work goals, establishing priorities, and planning well in order to produce quality work
! Executes effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals
! Challenges the status quo, champions change and influences others to change
! Considers the ultimate impact of decisions and actions on internal and external customers
! Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.
! Resourceful in gathering and synthesizing new information from a variety of sources
