This job contributes to REI’s success by engaging, contributing and sharing in the success of REI’s procure-to-pay (P2P) team. This role is responsible for working with the Ariba and SAP P2P systems, engaging with other team members and partnering with our customers and vendors. The role also processes disbursements in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with internal policies and GAAP. This role is responsible for driving continuous process improvement, optimizing the leveraging of technology and providing outstanding customer service. This role addresses escalated internal or external customer service issues with high level conflict resolution and negotiation skills to ensure a positive customer experience. Leading by example and providing guidance to other team members while modeling and acting in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission is key.

! Acts as an escalation contact for internal and external customer service issues in a timely and professional manner
! Ensures accurate data retention as defined by policy
! Maintains company and employee confidence by keeping information confidential
! Ensures Non-PO invoices are coded and approved in compliance with REI's Chart of Authority and processed only once appropriate documentation and approval is secured
! Reviews, prepares and processes invoices by comparing receiving documents to vendor invoices including verification for the proper cost, discounts, payment terms, allowances, freight terms, tax and account codes
! Acts as an escalation point for invoice processing and account reconciliation activities
! Effectively partners with internal and external partners to ensure complex vendor account reconciliation is managed effectively and efficiently
! Minimizes expenses by processing invoices in a timely manner and taking advantage of supplier discounts
! Manages aging accounts payable (debit balances) to ensure REI funds are collected in a timely manner by investigating issues, corresponding with vendors and escalating when needed
! Reviews, prepares and processes foreign merchandise prepaid invoices. Collects purchase orders; requests a wire transfer, applying duty, customs, freight and miscellaneous expenses to foreign invoice for data entry; clears prepaid inventory account; updates to Inventory Cost Accounting system
! Provides monthly and annual reconciliations of the General Ledger accounts for Prepaid Domestic and Foreign Inventory and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) accounts
! Oversees the tracking and monitoring of aging credit memos for the Company including the Vendor Marketing Program, New Store allowances, Promotional billings, vendor rebates, personal employee travel and miscellaneous receivables
! Performs the disbursement function by utilizing current accounting systems technology which includes check printing and bank wires. Troubleshoots problems arising from the transmission of data between the bank and internal software
! Assists with period end close process
! Serves as a liaison for external auditors. Assists external auditors by providing requested information/documentation of system or financial data during audit review
! Assists with monthly company purchase card reconciliation
! Reviews expenses to ensure they comply with company policies including the Chart of Authority, Travel Policy, Multi-card policy, Cell Phone/Communication Device policy

Bring your passion and expertise

! 5+ years full cycle accounts payable experience, preferably in a procure-to-pay environment
! 5+ years accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred
! 3+ years accounts receivable or collections experience preferred
! Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook
! Previous experience using financial systems or AP related software
! Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
! Consistently demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
! Demonstrated ability to resolve and/or escalate conflict using tact and diplomacy
! Builds rapport with all kinds of people inside and outside the organization
! Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals.
! Flexible in one's viewpoints and positions in order to support the direction taken by others at REI
