As a Principal/Lead Mobile Engineer, you’ll provide technical leadership and engineering excellence to REI’s mobile development team. In this hands-on role, you’ll create and foster growth in the mobile engineering team and work across the entire IT and Digital organizations to influence and lead development and product teams in delivering quality features within the Native Mobile App ecosystem. In this role you will:
Lead the technical planning and delivery of features in the REI consumer mobile app.
Act as a technical consultant for assigned teams, gaining deep knowledge of those areas’ domains and relevant design patterns, and applying those to project solutions
Devise and document coding standards, preferred design patterns and libraries, and development methodologies for the group
Ensures code quality across all assigned projects with periodic reviews of work to ensure guidelines and standards are followed
Keep up to date on industry technology trends; discern issues affecting teams across assigned group; periodically make relevant recommendations about both
Work with other technical leaders to define a practical technical evolution path, and ensure proper technology choices for the enterprise
Mentor other developers, growing their skillset by training them on new technologies, advising areas of study, and teaching them about the standard implementations and patterns
Helps technical managers refine the hiring process, participates in hiring activities, and helps to onboard new team members
Bring your passion and expertise
6+ years’ experience in developing mobile apps with one or more apps published in the Apple or Google stores with multiple versions.
6+ years’ experience and expertise level in iOS, Android, Flutter or Cordova, React Native
Expertise in one or more of the following languages: SWIFT, Objective-C, Java, Kotlin
Deep understanding of multi-threading, memory management, networking, caching
Microservice architectures, API schemas and Event streaming.
Experience with Cloud Computing and Cloud Security preferrable
Computer Science degree or Equivalent Work Experience
