In the Visual Merchandiser II role, you will contribute to REI’s success by executing visual merchandising design concepts, solutions, and implementation plans for products and programs for retail stores. This role is responsible to develop consistent merchandise presentation direction, communication and support the effort to bring company-wide visual merchandising strategies, tactics, processes, and practices forward that will meet REI’s corporate brand and sales goals. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding principles.

Provides direction, guidance, and develops strong cross-divisional partnerships to meet expected deadlines and achieve department, company, and customer results.
Provides direction and guidance to internal and external consultants /vendors in order to deliver on department and company objectives.
Provides support with Category Merchant Managers partnerships by developing a visual communication for category-specific visual merchandising execution based on annual strategy and/or approved category-specific projects.
Develops and updates REI's Visual Merchandising Standards based on approved strategy
Leads the seasonal campaign by managing timelines, setting up team meetings based on work back schedule, providing seasonal insights, and other responsibilities assigned to seasonal campaign lead.
Partners with internal functional teams to implement visual strategies and requirements for fixtures, and space planning related to visual merchandising, product merchandising, and overall store visual presentation.
Partners with product merchants and planners to define appropriate product category assortment sizes and store assortment assignments via category management program.
Develops all visual program content information and is accountable for the timely delivery of content to the visual communications team for production and distribution of the visual communications tools.
Responds to field inquiries regarding visual program communications in an agreed-upon specified time frame.
Diverse knowledge in hardgoods and softgoods merchandising practices

Bring your passion and expertise

5+ years proven experience with visual merchandising and display in a retail store environment.

Proven ability to incorporate current fashion and styling market trends.

Proven ability to balance creative merchandising with business acumen.

Experience with space planning as it relates to visual merchandising

Project management skills including measurement, reporting, and financial analysis

Ability to lead, create and maintain process systems, documentation and support tools

Knowledge of Visual Merchandising processes and execution and retail in-store marketing preferred
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Computer Skills: Word, Excel, InDesign, Photoshop and Outlook

College degree preferred or equivalent experience in a related field preferred.

Ability to travel nationally approximately 10% of the time.
