Thousand is an urban cycling brand that makes safety seamless: starting with a bike helmet you actually want to wear. We have a big vision for the future, with a goal of becoming the #1 “tools for urban travelers” brand in the next 5 years. We are looking for a hardworking, values-oriented, team member to help us actualize that vision. What you'll do:
- Lead the product development process from design brief to packaging through final prototyping, salesman samples, and consumer feedback
- Work with external industrial designer to translate design intent into comprehensive specs and technical documentation
- Lead weekly supplier meetings and daily development communication to ensure products milestones are on time and meet the product brief requirements
- Creation and maintenance of correct Bill of Materials (BOM) for all projects, as well as development samples and a record of ongoing improvements
- Manage tracking, comments, and calendar related to all product phases
- Address styling & fit comments during development (in conjunction with designer).
- Ensure all raw materials are compliant and meet necessary requirements.
- Partner with the Product Director in achieving target costing and margin requirements.
- Assist in cost negotiations to ensure targets are met along with product objectives.
- Ensure each product is 100% approved and production ready at specific deadlines.
- Manage seasonal and partnership SMUS from concept to production with
- Travel internationally for key development milestones and building of vendor partnerships.

Location
Remote candidates are welcome. Southern Californian candidates preferred.
Who you are:
- Minimum 3-5 years of product development related experience
- Experience in hardgoods– knowledge of the head protection industry is a big plus.
- A self starter who’s able to manage multiple projects and timelines.
- Efficient and effective communicator.
- Able to accurately generate and maintain error free technical documentation.
- Ability to use discretion and independent judgment to meet objectives within set timelines.
- In depth in knowledge of manufacturing and product specification
- Experience working and communicating with Asian manufacturing partners is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to create and maintain schedules
- Ability to work with a variety of teams.
- Attention to detail, well organized, and calendar driven.
- Excellent time management skills are necessary with superb organization.
- Ability to operate independently and proactively in a dynamic startup environment
- Willingness to travel internationally and domestically
