JOB OVERVIEW
The Product Designer, Soft Goods will be responsible for designing individual products and complete product lines including golf bags, golf gloves, headwear, and accessories, from ideation to tech pack completion. The position requires a collaborative player in a cross-functional team with a focus on design innovation, product quality, and brand awareness.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work closely with the Product Manager, Design Manager, and Sales to ideate and design best-in-class products in an ultra competitive marketplace.
• Be comfortable in a fast paced, ever changing, timeline critical environment- Must meet deadlines.
• Must expect, and be comfortable accepting constructive design feedback and be willing to make necessary revisions, quickly and accurately.
• Effectively communicate and present design concepts to various internal and external audiences.
• Maintain strong knowledge of current trends, color, technology and competitive products through travel and research.
• Demonstrate an understanding of product usage, product lines, and the specific markets in which Callaway does business.
• Determine and define materials, construction, mechanisms, shape, color, etc.
• Contribute to cost analysis on new product designs.
• You will be expected to travel and work with vendors in Asia.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
• Expert level proficiency in Illustrator.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent sketching skills is a plus.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling is a plus (Solidworks).
• Proven record of successfully taking projects from ideation, to tech pack, to production.
• Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly techniques including tooling, injection molding, textiles, pattern making, stitching/sewing, and related production methods.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s year degree in Product/Industrial Design or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience.
• Experience with material, color and finish selection.
• An interest in Golf is a major plus.
