About the job

The General Manager will be responsible for all elements of the Dakine Equipment Business from a commercial, financial, product and operations perspective. In addition to managing a Senior Leadership Team on a day to day basis, the GM will be responsible for developing and delivering against key strategic initiatives. The GM must be able to inspire, lead, and drive tangible financial results across various platforms of distribution and customer engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership / Management

• Oversee and manage a cross functional team of Design, Product Development, Marketing, and Sales
• Effectively partner and support cross platform shared service functions in Planning, Inventory Management, Customer Service, E-comm, Operations, and Finance in all matters related to Dakine Equipment
• Evaluate current talent, on-board new team members, and develop a strong corporate culture focused on delivering results and customer centricity
• Evaluate current brand and individual KPI’s and manage across the organization on a quarterly and yearly basis
• Drive innovation, accountability, and strong measurable performance within the organization
• Develop long-term plans and budgets for revenues as well as expenses; monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance

Strategic Vision and Execution

• Drive the strategic planning process for the Dakine Equipment Brand
• Review, update and manage to the Long Range Plan (3-5 years)
• Evalaute current commercial opportunities and develop a tactical plan to accelerate current and potentially incremental channels of distribution and product categories
• Brand and Product Management
• Lead and inspire a product creation and management team that must focus on innovation within the sports and activities in which we operate
• Effectively engage brand Licensor and develop short, mid, and long term brand awareness and marketing strategies
• Capitilize on brand strength in development of collaborations, special projects, personalization / customization, and incremental opportunities to create a competitive brand advantage
• Evaluate and shorten Go-To-Market process and timelines

Operational

• Evaluate and streamline / align current Dakine Equipment processes – utilize existing JR286 strengths to expedite and leverage talent and learnings
• Improve speed to market, efficiency and operational stability
• Develop process road map and evaluate Red / Yellow / Green
• Sales
• Oversee global sales operations, field sales, distributors and ecommerce to ensure sales targets are met or exceeded
• Develop annual sales plans per region/per market
• Create and maintain initiatives in order to achieve up to date competitive analysis
• Drive and monitor quality metrics to ensure outstanding service and customer support.

• Can handle multiple projects simultaneously; does not get rattled switching directions
• Efficient and effective communicator – up, down, and cross functionally
• A person who is credible and not afraid to take a stance once they have data to support their position; not looking for a “yes” person
• Passionate about the products
• Customer / Athlete minded with a depth of knowledge and exposure across the competitive landscape

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• 10+ years of experience leading and developing brands in the athletic/outdoor/action sport industry
• Strong financial acumen and operational strength
• Experience at building strong teams and processes for growth companies or divisions.
• Experience with global operations specifically working with Licensors and Distributors.
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred
• Passion for surf, snow, bike, travel, lifestyle and other outdoor pursuits
• Possess a strong work ethic and be able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Must be detailed oriented and highly organized
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
• Valid U.S. work permit
• Domestic and international travel is required
