Mad Engine is looking for a VP of Designs (Men and Boys) to work alongside our CMO/SVP of Creative Design.

Position Summary
Responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, management and motivation to the Art and Merchandising team for boys and men’s collection, separates, product development with a heavy emphasis on key item focus and programs. Accountable for setting the creative vision, executing merchandise product assortment plans and obtaining the financial results for the Division’s men’s and boys categories.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

Business Strategies:
• Develop and adjust strategies, objectives and priorities for merchandise to include a balanced assortment of key licenses, new licenses and branded sku’s.
• Partner with Senior Leaders and Pre-Production to establish line price and discounted
• Analyze sales weekly/monthly/annually in order to identify opportunities to increase sales, margins, etc.
• Track sales of best and worst selling items in order to establish a history of sales.
• Drive category specific sales growth and increase bottom line profit through Key Account focus and Program initiatives.
• Lead efforts in establishing and maintaining private label and brands as a dominant market force.
• Work closely with marketing to ensure proper designs are being utilized as editorial pieces.
• Provide excellent leadership and strategic thinking skills with a calculated entrepreneurial risk-taking mentality.

Creative:
• Oversee Merchandising and Art Direction for all Divisional Brand line styles, presentations and product development requests.
• Create Master Calendar for domestic and overseas program developments, line styles and market presentations for mens and boys.
• Oversee all phases of import development with the creative and pre-production teams.
• Direct and control the activities of the merchandise assortment, pricing, product design & quality to ensure alignment with the overall brand strategy and retailer needs.
• Remain current on trends and innovations regarding fashion, music, pop culture and how they relate on product to our customer and retailers.
• Source and interpret inspirational directional boards to include bringing relevant art and apparel inspiration to the team.
• Work with Merchandising team to identify key items, colors and themes for each brand assortment and relate back into fabric and blank seasonal buy plans.
• Organize, distribute and provide directional follow-up on appointment and market notes from retailers, licensors, vendors, etc.
• Understand target customers, their demands and the competitors of the Company, and identify business opportunities with fresh and innovative product assortments and concepts.

General Managerial:
• Oversee project scheduling and workload management for the creative team.
• Responsible for Creative Departmental structure: from general management to hiring and training of new team members.
• Evaluate and manage team performance in a proactive and consistent manner.
• Manage the interaction and communication of Creative team inter-departmentally to ensure directional and touch-base
meetings and notes have follow through.
