SUMMARY:
Bringing a professional and technical passion of managing the Accounting Department that incorporates outstanding leadership, with high expectations for timely and accurate information to be utilized by the business, while operating in a change management environment.
Responsible for the region’s accounting operations, including but not limited to:
Month and year end close process along with the associated monthly regional Board reports
Financial reporting, including the timely provision of information to the business, the broader global finance team and auditors;
Maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records;
Appropriate Internal Controls and
Ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles plus group policies and procedures
Also responsible for working with the Global CFO and broader finance team to develop and execute improvement agenda/process reform for financial information collation, systems and reporting to establish best practices.
This will be a long-term temporary assignment (12-18 months)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
General
Oversee all Accounting operations including month and year end close, cash flow reporting and forecasting, management of AP and AR functions, banking and foreign currency management and maintenance of the fixed assets register.
Work with the Global CFO and broader finance team to identify, develop and execute improvement agenda/process reform for financial information collation, systems and reporting to establish best practices.
Work with the Global CFO and broader finance team to drive accountability through consultation and coaching with business leaders so they own and follow through on financial targets.
Ensure high standards of Internal Control are in place or introduced; appreciating that the system environment requires more manual and less system controls than is typically seen.
Reporting
Oversee the preparation of financial reporting to monthly and year-end deadlines.
Review and improve financial reporting as technology and business needs change.
Issue timely and complete financial reports including monthly Board reports which includes commentary describing “the story” of the applicable period’s results.
Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management, including Brand GMs.
Provide financial analyses and other reports as needed.
Ensure that accounting practices are modified as appropriate to align with operational changes (ex. OMNI and Pipeline) and that these are implemented with internal control environment in mind.
Transactions
Oversee transactions to ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner and that accounts receivable are collected promptly.
Responsible for ensuring periodic balance sheet (including bank) reconciliations are completed and appropriately reviewed.
Oversee the accuracy of manual and intercompany journals.
Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
Ensure that transactions are in compliance with the Regional and Global Delegation of Authority.
Oversee the maintenance of the chart of accounts.
Oversee the maintenance of a system of controls over accounting transactions.
Compliance
Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors.
Comply with government reporting requirements as required.
Comply with Group accounting policies and procedures.
People
Set KPIs for individual team members as required.
Provide ongoing feedback, coaching and recognition.
Work with HR to manage non-performance issues promptly and appropriately.
Work with HR to recruit, select, and induct direct reports.

Other tasks may be assigned from time to time which contribute to the overall success of the company.
Assist with any acquisition or divestment due diligence and the associated accounting support if transaction(s) proceed
 
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:
Undergraduate Degree in Accounting
10+ years’ experience in a similar role 
A passion for accuracy
A strong grasp of technical accounting issues as well as being a commercially astute business partner
Strong communication, presentation, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
System and process development experience
Outstanding leadership and team building qualities
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills 
Executive level communication skills suitable to deal with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
Proactive, positive and flexible approach to problem solving and resolution
 
 PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
CPA Certificate preferred
Experience within the apparel industry or similar.
