About the job
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
In partnership with Design and Merchandising leadership, develop and bring to market the most well executed, innovative, and profitable ranges in the industry.Covering off on regional and /or global needs across the 3 primary regions of the Americas, EU, and APAC.
Execute the the product development process, and calendar for all regional and/or global product, with responsibility for meeting all deadlines.
Operate as the primary “brand” partner / liaison with global supply chain, sourcing and production teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Lead the development and execution of products in the wovens categories, as well as drive new fabrications, techniques, treatments and processes to remain on the leading edge of the respective category
Ensures product development is in accordance to margin requirements and production calendar
Acts as liaison between merchandising, design and production teams
Review all submits (lab dips, strike offs, desklooms, wash panels etc..) prototypes, and samples for approval for all woven categories from design concept to production.
Able to spec all POMs on a garment and provide detailed construction comments.
Clearly communicates development to all suppliers or direct.
Understand style cost build ups, and opportunities for value-engineering
Maximize gross margin opportunities through leverage, product re-engineering, and product versioning
Review and vet all costs (target thru final) prior to presentation to merchants, must be fact-based and in-line with macro trends
Working with Tech Design and Design / Creative to have complete technical package to initiate development
Work closely with production team to ensure that styles are executed properly in bulk production.
Ensure all necessary fabric content, color codes, and correct style information is available for style set up in PLM.
Responsible for PLM management including style set-up for all styles and trims by creating and maintaining BOM’s, updating style information and changes as necessary, all sample comments, and approvals.
Attend fittings with designer to deliver a quality product that meets margin & calendar targets.
Take part in quality audits for respective categories
Own the SAP push requirements and deadlines
Meet all deadlines for necessary categories
Raises issues in timing and / or product early and effectively
Establish and maintain SOP’s
Communicating greige forecast to suppliers or direct
End to end sample line management (milestone meetings, photoshoots & go to market)
Line Guide Data management
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / EDUCATION:
In-depth product development knowledge of necessary categories
Knowledge of development calendar, timelines, and deliverables
Must be able to multi task and work in fast paced environment
Must be proactive with a solution/result oriented attitude
Must have excellent verbal and written communication and follow through skills
Must be highly organized and detailed oriented
Must be MAC computer literate in Applications – Adobe Illustrator, Word, and Excel
Bachelors Degree, Business administration or Retail Merchandising preferred
6+ Years of experience in development, preferably within the action sports industry.
Good working knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
PLM system knowledge
