SUMMARY:
The Merchandise Planner owns and drives all merchandise planning responsibilities for one brand (in some instances, a Planner is responsible for 2 brands) for one Region.  This is a high impact role, as it serves as a strategic advisor and partner to a Regional Merchant. The Planner interfaces regularly with Planning peers in other Regions, retail and ecommerce staff, as well as the sourcing and regional fulfillment teams.
The Merchandise Planner’s primary responsibilities can be summarized as:
Executes all merchandise planning activities for Brand(s)/Region
Serves as the Brand/Region subject matter expert by advocating Region’s product and delivery requirements within the overall line architecture while aligning with global assortments and go-to-market strategy
Serves as a Regional Merchant’s primary Planning partner and contact
Provides cross-channel support and oversight for key retail and ecommerce pre and in-season activities
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pre-Season:
Develops seasonal sales and margin targets recommendations by brand/product category/segment
Provides input into the Hindsighting and Insighting processes
Influences and guides the regional line architecture to include region specific product needs; recommendations will be provided on: Product lifecycle
Style and option count
Delivery flow
Size scale
Segmentation of styles across inline, speed-to-market, supplements, collabs, and long-lifecycle product

Quantifies and provides ranking guidance to support initial merchant style forecasts
Acquires and aggregates all required data to support the creation of dashboards
Across all channels within their region, acquires style forecasts and identifies and attempts to resolve choice count, sales, margin and productivity variances
In-Season:
Manage the seasonal open to buy purchasing process to ensure alignment on inventory strategies and line architecture needed to achieve revenue targets
Leads seasonal buy review meetings to outline buy quantities by material and generate consensus with cross-functional partners surrounding upcharges, safety stock, ATS depth, drop recommendations, and delivery changes
Provides reforecasting visibility at each buy per style-option to determine the appropriate flow and cadence of purchases against the OTB
Supports and participates in Regional Buy Committee meetings, including the preparation of all approval dashboards
Facilitates communication with Brand Merchandising teams on SMU, Speed to Market, Injections and Collabs tracking and overall impact to the Inline assortment
Manages in-season inventory productivity and profitability for the wholesale channel while working collaboratively with retail and ecomm planners to improve overall business profitability
Provide cost-benefit analysis and transparency to all MOQ issues and upcharges with Regional Merchandising teams to weigh financial impact versus importance of styles to Brand seasonal stories
Champion go-to-market assortments across the region and globe throughout the purchasing season by driving direct selling strategies which support key categories and styles defined throughout pre-season and in-season milestone meetings
 
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:
5+ years experience in forecasting, planning, buying, &/or demand planning in a multi-branded, multi-channel, international environment preferred
Experience in Specialty Apparel Merchandise Planning preferred
Degree in Business or related field 
Advanced working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
Ability to analyze data to develop financially based merchandising insights and opportunities
Ability to consult, communicate and influence across range of people
Ability to work independently and coordinate information from different sources
Ability to work in a dynamic work environment
