About the job

DC SHOES:
From the creative force behind legendary brands Eightball, Droors, and Dub, DC Shoes was launched in 1994 as a profound disruption to the skateboarding industry. Founders Damon Way and Ken Block personified the collision of attributes that has uniquely guided DC for 25 years. A juxtaposition of music, art, and streetwear sensibilities with oversized confidence, style, and performance created a dynamic brand position which challenged the status quo on every level. This explosive creativity quickly grew from skateboarding to snowboarding, surfing, motocross, and streetwear. Smashing together athletic aesthetics with military-grade performance, DC established itself through groundbreaking product and an unmatched roster of team-riders who lived and breathed the brand ethos. Complementary to this authentic skate foundation, DC helped shape modern collaboration culture by pioneering partnerships with brands like Supreme and artists like Shepard Fairey. Guided by this DNA and true to the founders’ intent, DC continues this rich legacy today with the same irreverent attitude, rule-breaking style, and entrepreneurial hustle that birthed it. Then, now and always, DC is here to PUSH.

Job Description:
As the Senior Designer Skate & Snow, your job is to create the key art assets and style guides that fuel our global advertising, product marketing, and brand storytelling across regions and channels.
Focused primarily on our endemic categories, you will work closely with the Product and Marketing leads for each category to bring seasonal stories to life, building line presentations, lookbooks, catalog spreads, retail marketing concepts, digital experiences, special packaging, advertising, and event branding. In addition to high level design chops, we are looking for swiss-army-knife whose talent potentially extends into writing, motion graphics, illustration, presentation design, retouching, or other related disciplines. Our goal is to maintain a fast and nimble, yet full-service, creative agency capable of delivering excellence in the face of ever-changing tactics. Wit and intelligence must come packaged with the compelling portfolio and design expertise. Want to stay late to prove your idea beats the one you were directed to deliver? Even better.
This position will be a critical player on our global creative/marketing team -- which exists to drive consideration for the brand AND to equip our regional production teams to execute efficiently and consistently. Experience developing consumer campaigns and working across mediums is critical. As we increasingly shift from print media to digital, a keen understanding of layout and visual hierarchy on desktop, mobile, email, social media, and interactive experiences will be vital for success.
Bottom line: We’re looking for a design badass who wants to join one of the most influential skate-lifestyle brands in the world at a defining moment in its history. This isn’t just a job…but rather an opportunity to help shape the DC look and feel – colliding its past with its future.

Core Job Responsibilities:
Design all key-art concepts to drive the Skate & Snow sell-in and sell-through process, evolving them in complexity as they grow from initial story concept to full go-to-market style guide and omni-channel asset package.
Design all high-level global projects that transcend region and channel as well as big-ticket regional projects that may require bespoke execution beyond production-level design.
Collaborate with Skate & Snow product and marketing leaders on seasonal product stories
Support an overarching visual language to harmonize with our Lifestyle categories and deliver a consistent brand experience to our consumers.
Partner with our Photography Producer to ensure needs are met with photoshoots
Edit and retouch photo assets when needed.
Develop logos, typography, and other identity assets that support new products, technologies, programs, and events.

Required Experience/Skills/Education:
8+ years’ experience designing in a brand or agency environment
An authentic connection to skate/snow culture is ideal, but a proven ability to design for new audiences is essential.
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, or a related discipline is preferred
Proficiencies across the Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
A diverse portfolio reflecting sophistication in concept development, typography, layout, photo editing, and general artistry
Experience in print production and digital design
A finger-on-pulse pursuit of new techniques in software, social media applications, and digital communication
A spirit to learn and collaborate
