SUMMARY:

The Global Manager of Merchandise Planning owns and drives all merchandise planning responsibilities Billabong. This is a high impact role, as it serves as a strategic advisor to the Global Brand and Merchant leaders. The Manager interfaces regularly with senior retail, ecommerce, finance, sales, sourcing, and regional fulfillment staff, and plays a critical role in developing and training the Planning staff.
The Manager’s primary responsibilities can be summarized as:
Leads all merchandise planning activities for Billabong across all regions 
Ensures consistency of brand strategy, planning and execution across all Regions
Serves as the Global Brand and Merchant Leaders’ primary Planning partner and contact
Provides cross-channel support and oversight for key retail and ecommerce pre and in-season activities
 
Key activities span across both pre-season (pre-PO issuance) & in-season (post- PO completion), including:
Pre-Season:
Supports the development of seasonal sales, margin and globalization targets by brand/region/season/product category
Provides input into the Hindsighting and Insighting processes
Influences and guides the line architecture development and category plans through analyzing data inputs including but not limited to current sales revenue plans, historical hindsight, market trends, retail sell through, seasonal product trend, long life cycle product trend, and productivity targets
Oversees the process of providing ranking guidance to support initial merchant style forecasts
Oversees the process of providing product lifecycle, delivery flow and size scale recommendations
Oversees the process of creating the dashboards, including aggregation of all required data
Across all channels, aggregates style forecasts and identifies choice count, sales, margin and productivity variances
Oversees the creation of the Seasonal Buy Plans
 
In-Season:
Oversees the creation and management of the open to buy budget
Reviews and approves the final style buy quantities
Aggregates region and channel buy quantities, and reviews to identify and resolve minimum order quantity &/or vendor capacity issues
Conducts cross functional and cross channel buy reviews
Supports the Regional Buy Committee meetings, including overseeing the preparation of all dashboards
Ensures PO issues are resolved in a timely manner
Ensures final Buy Plans are updated and published
Manages inventory productivity and profitability across all channels by working collaboratively with retail and ecommerce leaders
 
  The Manager is responsible for the management and development of a team of Planning professionals, including:
Facilitates best practices and communication between brands, departments and regions
Cultivates an environment for on-going analysis of identifying process improvement and best practices within the organization, and identify opportunities to drive efficiencies and new approaches to evaluate the business
Champions performance management
Ensures yearly targets and KPIs are set for direct reports, evaluating results on a continuing basis and providing clear, open and honest feedback
               
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / EDUCATION:
 
Qualifications:  
Proficient in English
Experience:       
8+ years experience in forecasting, planning, buying, &/or demand planning in a multi-branded, multi-channel, international environment  preferred
Experience in Specialty Apparel Merchandise Planning preferred
Degree in Business or related field
Key Skills:
Advanced working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
Ability to analyze data to develop financially based merchandising insights and opportunities
Ability to consult, communicate and influence across range of people
Ability to work independently and coordinate information from different sources
Ability to work in a dynamic work environment
Ability to conceptualize, develop and implement new processes and improve existing processes
Capability to manage projects, present, and report to all management levels
Expertise in building, mentoring and managing world class cross-functional teams
