SUMMARY:
The Buyer - Hardgoods will be responsible for managing specific categories under the supervision and leadership of the Director of Buying.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Surf, Skate, Electronics, Wetsuits, Watches
Grow and maintain strong Vendor relationships
Partner with Store teams to establish needs based on region and customer type
Collaborate with marketing team to execute events like Surf Swap, Shaper’s Night, Demo Days
Execute assortment plans to meet seasonal sales and margin targets
OTB and Inventory Management
Establish vendor and category contribution plans
Evaluate selling and reporting weekly/monthly to leadership
Order creation and entry
SKU Maintenance
Manage transfer and markdown files for designated categories
Work cross functionally with planning, allocation, visual merchandising, marketing, and store teams
Work with Director of Buying on career development and growth plan
Additional tasks as needed
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:
Extensive knowledge with Surf and Skate Hardgoods
Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
Strong Retail Math skills
Ability to analyze and generate accurate sales, turn, and margin reports
Highly organized and strong prioritization skills – comfortable handling multiple categories efficiently
Ability to work cross functionally in a fast-paced environment – flexible as day to day may change
Strong time management skills with a sense of urgency
Trend forecasting and Industry knowledge
Ability to learn internal business systems
Strong verbal and communication skills
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
2+ Years as a Buyer of Hardgoods or related category
Successfully managed a category in previous experience – “at once” businesses a plus
Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher
