SUMMARY:
In supporting both the DC Shoes and Quiksilver brands, this person will be responsible for managing the entire life cycle of the garment from tech pack handoff through fittings. The TD is responsible to ensure product maintains design intent while meeting all company margin targets, quality standards and on time deliverables. The person will run the fittings, make pattern/spec adjustments, and communicate directly with the sourcing hub/factories to ensure the best product is delivered. This person will partner with design, merchandising, and development teams. This position will report to the Merchandise Manager for apparel/lifestyle categories.

Daily communication with sourcing hub/ vendors to ensure all samples are accurate and received on time
Partner closely with design to engineer product to meet margin targets
Manage to calendar to ensure fully commercialized product prior to PO’s
Partner closely with production team on all production deliverables
Work closely with design to translate the design sketch into a spec sheet. Prepare, maintain, and update spec sheets
Provide call-outs and critiques during the fittings to verify that all issues are identified
Fit garment on model and identify and make any necessary adjustments to pattern and/or specs to improve fit
 
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:
Must have 5-7 years of experience Technical Designer, Product Development background a plus
Must have experience across technical product categories such as technical outerwear in the Young Men’s Women’s and Youth business including apparel wovens and knits.
Must have prior experience working with overseas suppliers
Must have prior experience working in a wholesale business model
Must have extensive experience in product construction/fabric construction/wash and print techniques/component level cost management
Must have experience leading fittings and making adjustments with spec sheets
Must be deadline driven and detail oriented
Must be able to multi-task and work in fast paced environment
Must be proactive with a solution/result oriented attitude
Must have excellent communication and follow through skills
Must be PC & MAC computer literate in Applications – Adobe Illustrator, Word, Excel, PLM, Gerber or Lectra knowledge
Must work well in a team environment
Must possess a keen eye to identify fit issues and recommend solutions
Must have a strong understanding of garment construction and fabric types
