SUMMARY:
Boardriders is looking for an experienced Photo Studio Manager to lead our US Photo Studio, producing best in class ecommerce, marketing and wholesale product imagery for the entire Boardriders brand portfolio.
Reporting directly to the Head of Global Marketing Operations, the Photo Studio Manager will lead a commercial studio designed for optimal flow, oversee continuous improvement of the studio to maximize capacity, increase operational efficiency and visibility, and ensure image standards are consistently met across the Boardriders brand portfolio.
 
The Photo Studio Manager will oversee the day-to-day operation of the studio including studio budgets, sample management, studio staffing, equipment and operations, photography, retouching and global guidelines, production standards and process alignment.
This role will also be responsible for establishing successful internal and external partnerships, implementing systems to create both efficiencies and full 360° workflow visibility for the business. You will build strong partnerships working directly with Product & Design, Marketing, eComm, IT and Finance teams, removing roadblocks for the team to ensure deliveries are flawless and always on time.
 
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is detail oriented, extremely organized, and has a proven ability to plan, optimize and scale production where necessary.  A positive attitude is a must, along with the ability to manage competing priorities within a fast-paced environment. The candidate will possess the ability to succeed with minimal guidance, be skilled at anticipating problems and be adept at team management.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, manage and oversee the day-to-day execution of a high-volume, fast-paced e-commerce product photography studio with direct oversight of sample management, studio operations, staffing, photography (including shooting product when necessary), and retouching
Lead and manage a best in class photo studio team, working closely with Brand Marketing, Product Design and Ecommerce teams to ensure all ecommerce, marketing and wholesale needs are met
Lead and implement global guidelines, production standards and process alignment across key regions (EMEA, ANZ) in conjunction with the Global Head of Shared Services
Continuously improve productivity and processes and keep studio procedures up to date and well-documented, ensuring they are communicated proactively to full-time staff, contractors and wider key stakeholders throughout the business
Develop and retain a highly skilled photo studio team by assessing current and future needs, and developing an organizational model that can scale with the needs of the business
Provide leadership, mentoring, training, development and performance management to direct reports within the photo studio team
Drive continuous improvement and innovation by adopting industry trends
Manage financial budgets including CapEx requests
Create, maintain and monitor daily/weekly/monthly reports to ensure critical information is shared with all studio and wider key stakeholders throughout the business
Develop a long-term capacity strategy, workforce and workflow planning for studio operations in conjunction with the Head of Global Marketing Operations
 
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Communication Arts or equivalent experience/related field
Minimum 5 years of experience leading a high volume, high production ecommerce photo studio with a strong studio business and operations background
Demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of workflow including prioritization, planning and task delegation under tight deadlines
Proven track record of leading and inspiring a photo studio team
Expertise in budgeting, planning, and managing an extensive shoot schedules
Strong negotiation and budget management skills
Excellent technical photography skills including extensive knowledge of Capture One, Adobe CC, and color management processes
Excellent working knowledge on all areas of product photography (including model and still life categories)
Experience with Ecommerce video production
Strong working knowledge and understanding of usage rights and respective terminology
A proactive problem solver and great communicator, who operates effectively and independently
 
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
 
Experience building out / expanding ecommerce photo studios
Experience creating/measuring productivity and other operational metrics
Experience leveraging technology to drive continuous innovation and efficiencies
Experience with B2B, PLM, SAP, and Salesforce systems
