RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and Development
Active management of line plans and product development calendar, with alignment to organizational priorities and consideration of cross-functional inputs
Category reporting and merchandising support
Consistent communication with vendors/suppliers to ensure prototypes, samples and production goods are developed and delivered as planned
Negotiate costing with vendors/suppliers to achieve margin targets with high quality execution
Create and manage all functional elements in Product Development process, including but not limited to: Tech Packs, Spec Sheets, and Build Of Materials (B.O.M.)
Revision of 2D CAD drawings
Comments, approvals and limit samples

Maintain database of relevant testing and compliance requirements for all product lines
Development of product briefs, mood boards and color concepts
Photo editing: re-touch, re-color, photo manipulation, extensions, background clipping, corrections, etc.
Presentations and Communication
Communicate design vision, results and stories to internal and external audiences
Manage global project planning and the presentation of projects at all stages, design reviews, sales meetings and tradeshows
People
Set KPIs for individual team members as required.
Provide on-going feedback, coaching and recognition.
Work with HR to manage non-performance issues promptly and appropriately.
Work with HR to recruit, select, and induct direct reports.

Ensure team adherence to legal and policy requirements.
 
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:
BS/BA Degree design related
Experience leading a design team
Qualifications in industrial & fashion Design or similar are essential
5+ years eyewear, goggle and apparel design experience
Design for manufacturing experience/skills
Project management expertise
Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (esp. Illustrator and Photoshop), including proficiency in vectoring and rendering art files
Strong graphic/sketching skills a plus
Photo editing: retouching, recoloring, photo manipulation, extensions, clipping backgrounds, color corrections, etc.
Knowledge of the product design process including trend, forecast, color, styling, construction and fit
Understanding / knowledge of eyewear, goggle and apparel materials
Strong organizational and project management skills with deadline-driven and detail-oriented attitude
Goal-oriented and independent self-starter with ability to think on their feet and adapt quickly
Proven ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously
Proactive and solution/result-oriented attitude
Ability to perform under pressure and manage a complex array of tasks
Understanding of industrial design is essential
Sound knowledge of the eyewear, action sports and fashion industry
Understanding the needs of the market, retailers, suppliers and merchandisers
Demonstrated experience to research and develop designs, ideas, themes and convert ideas into products
Experience in the development of themes through story boards
Thorough knowledge of the product design process
Experience in sourcing and production of suppliers
Experience in briefing, directing and supervising the product development process
Capability to independently manage projects, present and report at a senior management level
Ability to manage the design and development of a variety of categories
 
 PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
Experience in graphic design and screen-printing
3D CAD/rendering software knowledge - Solidworks, Rhino, Bunkspeed, Keyshot
