Product Design Manager Job in Santa Barbara, CA

Purnell, an outdoor lifestyle apparel company based in Santa Barbara, CA, is looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is motivated by challenges. The Product Design Manager is responsible for managing the development cycle for new and existing products, from conceptualization to product launch. Strong project management and organizational skills are required. He or she will also have a creative background and should be comfortable designing whole collections around themes and/or functions in line with the company brand position. This employee will function as manager to the product development and production coordinators.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for all facets of seasonal line planning including analyzing sales data and market opportunities and creating line plans in support of the brand’s business objectives
• Create and present line plans and product design concepts
• Research and source materials and trims for development and production
• Oversee prototyping efforts; create and organize documents for product development, including product sketches and technical packages
• Communicate requirements to domestic and international factories/vendors
• Oversee time and action calendars and track development/production schedules to ensure on-time deliveries from factories/vendors
• Lead the costing process by gathering costs and preparing costing assessments
• Define Purnell design apparel standards
• Work with management to develop long-term product development strategies
• Perform other duties as assigned
