Reporting to the Director of Product, the primary responsibility of Topo Designs’ Bag and Accessories Developer will
be to coordinate and manage the development and production for select categories of Topo Designs bags, packs, and
accessory styles. Through the creation of detailed tech pack specifications and exact bill of materials, this position will
focus on integrating design, materials and pattern engineering from sample production through final product
development. This position will also function as a primary point of contact between manufacturing/development
partners and Topo Designs.

Responsibilities:

⏵ Manage the development of bags, packs, and luggage through soft-goods construction knowledge,
hardgoods development processes, and creation of product tech packs

⏵ Ensure the accurate creation of sample tech packs from the Design team product specification packages

⏵ Guide the development of products within the FOB and margin targets as outlined by the product briefs and
work to maintain the projected profit margins through each season

⏵ Manage and communicate clearly with vendors ensuring that direct and timely information is provided to
meet deadlines and deliverables required by the seasonal calendar

⏵ Manage and work directly with outside partner-based factory product teams

⏵ Track non-production POs for development trims, swatches, strike-offs, samples and materials

⏵ Oversee timely and up-to-date revisions to product tech packs

⏵ Proactively troubleshoot issues regarding fit, construction, materials, suppliers, etc.

⏵ Organize, publish and maintain all records, style files, and samples associated with the product and related programs

⏵ Partner with domestic and overseas product/material sourcing and manufacturers to develop new mat

Qualifications:

⏵ B.A. or B.S. degree preferably in product development, business, engineering, or manufacturing

⏵ 3-5 years in bag, luggage or other similar softgood/hardgood product development

⏵ 5-7 years of product development experience in the outdoor industry preferred

⏵ Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Excel, Google Suite

⏵ Travel to foreign-based factories as needed


Qualifications and Skills:

⏵ Willingness and desire to be an ambassador of Topo Designs products

⏵ We are a small team which requires the candidate be willing to pitch in on various projects when needed

⏵ Knowledgeable of market trends, technologies, and recent product innovations

⏵ Efficient and effective communicator with both internal and external partners

⏵ Advanced outdoor and industrial textile and materials knowledge

⏵ Detailed and goal-oriented

⏵ Ability to manage multiple responsibilities at once

⏵ Ability to think strategically, but act tactically

⏵ Domestic and International travel by road, air and overnight, as required 15% of time

⏵ Lifting and/or bending up to 30 pounds
