OVERVIEW
VICEâ??s Product team is looking for an experienced engineer to join our DUMBO Brooklyn office to focus on development of our proprietary content management system. The role will have the opportunity to influence a large number of projects which reach across the entire spectrum of media produced by VICE. Our technology stack is primarily JavaScript (ES6+ features); Node.js, Vue.js + Vuex. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with a microservices architecture with expert-level knowledge in all aspects of front-end web development, and managing a team of talented developers.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement modern and elegant design patterns as it pertains to feature development and code maintainability
Collaborate on and produce consistently clean and measurably performant code
Build and maintain reusable javascript components while adhering to coding standards and best practices.
Create unit tests using frameworks like karma / mocha / chai / jest.
Integrate, consume, and create services needed to improve VICEâ??s fast paced editorial work pipeline.
Mentoring engineers as well as interface with other teams within our product and engineering organization
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of professional development experience.
Existing managerial experience is a plus, but not mandatory.
Expert level knowledge of javascript, ES6+ features, and flux-style architecture.
Experience with NPM and webpack to build and distribute JS modules across multiple applications and code bases.
Familiarity with AWS and building large scalable web experiences.
Experience with Continuous Delivery, and Continuous Integration.
Experience utilizing reactive JS frameworks like Vue.js and React.js.
Experience with agile software development and best practices.
Proficiency working on a fast-paced team, with product owners, designers and other developers.
Ability to work autonomously and comfortably on features from start to finish.
