<p>VICE News Tonight planning editors have a clear understanding of our show and our style of storytelling. They demonstrate expertise in the news and documentary field and have an ability to flourish in a team environment.</p>
<p><br> <strong>The Role x You</strong></p>
<p>This is not a field position -- the planning editor's primary job is to support research, assign, coordinate and track production.</p>
<p>You understand the fundamentals of news gathering and must be a clear writer who is comfortable managing information and dispersing it to groups of people within the bureau and to the broader organization. You will be called on to generate and maintain a diary of future events and network priorities, and coordinate across newsroom. Long hours and weekend work is expected of you.</p>
<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS </strong></p>
<p><strong>You have these:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Minimum 5 years of experience in news or related fields</li>
<li>Proven leadership skills</li>
<li>Ability to pitch, develop, plan and create stories within strict time parameters</li>
<li>Capable of working under pressure, multitasking and coordinating with multiple teams </li>
<li>Strong writing, researching, communication, interpersonal skills</li>
<li>Exercises good news judgment with strong knowledge of international news  </li>
<li>Organized, adaptable and detail oriented</li>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related fields</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>We’d love if you also had these: </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Conceptualize, develop and commission coverage plans for one-off stories, segments and specials</li>
<li>Participate in daily editorial/planning meetings; propose ideas for story coverage</li>
<li>Work in tandem with news desk to develop and define coverage plans and treatments</li>
<li>Coordinate with senior staff to commission material from field, and help maintain news &amp; planning logs</li>
<li>Monitor news wires, news agencies and other news sources</li>
<li>Coordinate with graphics team on treatments for packages </li>
<li>Work on assignment desk when required</li>
<li>Perform other duties relevant to the job as requested</li>
