<p>The award-winning VICE News team develops and produces news content across VICE platforms and partner platforms. The news team focuses on in-depth longform storytelling and unique and creative ways to relay topical daily news. This is a collaborative team that works together to make everyone’s stuff better. <p><strong>Role x You</strong></p>
<p>The Senior Producer for politics will guide the editorial direction of pieces and segments related to politics content inside all Vice News shows. You are well-versed in how politics inside and outside of Washington, DC works and you can mine all the minutiae for great story ideas and angles.</p>
<p>Note: while your knowledge of DC is critical, this job is based in NY, but liaises with the DC team daily</p>
<p><strong>In the short term… </strong>you will work with the other members of the senior staff, the DC Bureau Chief and Executive Producer to pitch, develop ideas, and green-light stories to send producers into the field. You will manage various shoots at once, and also work with the producer team to build the story arc, finalize a script, and edit each piece. </p>
<p><strong>After 6 months in this role… </strong>You’ll be developing edgier and more unique story ideas that set us apart in the political sphere, and working on differentiating content ideas for the November elections. You’ll be regularly pitching new segments and franchises.</p>
<p><strong>And after a year.. </strong>You’ll grow to direct the politics producing team, and green-light new projects independently. You’ll own a piece of Vice News’ election coverage from inception to completion.</p>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong> </p>
<p><strong>You have these:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Minimum 5-7 years experience leading a team/building stories with a team</li>
<li>Able to manage a team of 5-10 people</li>
<li>Well-established understanding of how Washington, DC works and inside sources to back up your points</li>
<li>Excellent news judgment and exceptional knowledge of politics</li>
<li>Mastery of story arc and how to make political stories compelling for the average viewer</li>
<li>Excellent writing and script editing skills</li>
<li>Collaborative team player with a positive attitude</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>We’d love if you also had these:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience working in Washington, DC in the political sphere, or on a campaign</li>
<li>Political Science or similar degree or equivalent experience</li>
<li>Ability to develop and pitch unique story ideas and angles, with research to back it up </li>
</ul>
