<p><strong>VICE x Team</strong></p>
<p>VICE Studios is an international television and feature film production facility from VICE Media, encompassing the development, production, financing and distribution of multi-platform content for audiences globally. With outposts all over the world, VICE Studios produces quality scripted, entertainment and factual formats. The US team sits in both the Venice and Brooklyn offices of VICE. </p>
<p><strong>Role x You</strong></p>
<p><strong>Senior Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs</strong> will be a core member of the general U.S. business and legal affairs function of VICE Media Group. </p>
<p><strong>In the short term </strong>you will be tasked with developing a thorough understanding of the various departments and project slates in order to negotiate the best deals.</p>
<p><strong>After 6 months in this role </strong>you will be a key partner to all Studios’ departments and delivering best in class counsel across legal and business affairs as part of the Legal team.</p>
<ul>
<li>Lead aspects of the day-to-day business and legal affairs for VICE Media’s U.S. scripted operations (comprising film, TV, podcasts, and documentary and commercials/music videos/branded projects), primarily overseen by VICE Media’s SVP, Business & Legal Affairs.</li>
<li>In addition, supports VICE’s business affairs function across its global scripted film, TV, and documentary deals.</li>
<li>Spearhead and secure the best deals possible to help achieve the creative and commercial objectives of the businesses.</li>
<li>Present a “best in class” image of VICE Media Group to the outside world.</li>
<li>Drive effective communication with the development, production, finance, post-production, and distribution teams across the businesses.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>
<p><strong>You have these:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>A lawyer with at least 7-10 years of experience gained at either a leading national or international law firm with a strong entertainment practice, and/or within a fast-paced film/TV production or distribution environment.</li>
<li>Thorough knowledge of the legal and commercial basis of film and TV development, financing, production, distribution, IP rights, talent deals, rights exploitation, and emerging business models and broadcast platforms.</li>
<li>Hungry to learn, autonomous, readily assumes responsibility, self-motivated, and a natural multitasker.</li>
<li>Enjoys solving complex legal and commercial problems, learns quickly, and has clarity of thought.</li>
<li>Member in good standing of the California Bar, or Registered In-House Counsel.</li>
</ul>
