<p><strong>Scope of Assignment x You</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">VICE Audio is producing several new limited series and a new weekly show with narrative documentary style and a global lens. We are seeking an experienced researcher to inform and elevate our reporting and narrative storytelling.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Researcher serves as the lead team member on all things research-related: background and archival research as well as fact checking. They are responsible for overseeing and maintaining the highest journalistic and ethical standards for how and what information we incorporate into our stories. As such, the researcher is a key team member whose expertise&nbsp; and professional insight will help shape the work of individual producers as well as the scope and arc of any given story the audio team is working on. You will be tasked with ensuring the quality of our research in general as well as helping the audio team set clear expectations about how we undertake research and fact checking as a team.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ability to expertly carry out in-depth journalistic research and fact checking is a must. A tireless obsession with detail and a desire to contribute to a team dedicated to crafting stories that push the boundaries of narrative audio are essential.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p><strong>Qualifications&nbsp;</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You have these:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">At least 5+ years of experience doing research and fact checking in a journalistic context; this can be any medium (magazines, podcasts, documentary film, etc.)</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Strong understanding of ethical standards for journalism and documentary, as well as the ever-evolving conversation around these standards</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">A fascination with facts and information</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Excellent communication skills</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ability to meet deadlines.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ability to multitask and work on more than one project at a time.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Experience working on a tight production schedule and translating ideas into action.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Self-direction and ability to work as part of a team.</span></li>
</ul>
