About the role: 
Refinery29 is looking for an enthusiastic, detail oriented, proactive Senior Photo Producer to contribute to the fast-paced photo department. This position will report to the Executive Photo Director. The focus of this position is to manage all aspects of photo production from idea inception to final delivery of assets, ensuring overall satisfaction by executing productions smoothly, on time, and within budget. 
Key Responsibilities: 
- Work with a team of photo editors to contribute to and execute their creative vision, often working on concurrent projects at once 
- As a senior member of the team, you will lead a range of productions, including large, long-term projects 
- Lead all photo shoot production logistics including hiring photographers, stylists, hair and makeup artists as well as booking locations, executing permits and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed 
- Develop and manage production calendars from pre to post production for all projects - Manage and be accountable for budgets throughout all phases of production, flagging any concerns and bringing creative solutions to the table 
- Provide budget consultations in presale as needed 
- Effectively negotiate with vendors to continuously stretch the production dollar while maintaining visual integrity 
- Communicate clearly and consistently across departments to ensure that all stakeholders have the most relevant and up to date information 
- Own all production logistics on set - maintaining the shoot schedule, troubleshooting, anticipating needs and problems, and ensuring the approved creative vision is executed - Alongside the rest of the photo team, explore and identify emerging photographers, stylists, hair and makeup artists, production and talent casting agencies 
- Establish relationships with new talent by scheduling meetings and portfolio reviews with photographers and other industry professionals 
- Manage, train, and mentor the junior producers on the team 
- Responsible for setting production goals for the team and tracking and measuring those goals - Work with the Executive Photo Director to streamline production and departmental processes - Reconcile all program and departmental costs on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Serve as a brand ambassador to the creative community, championing R29’s photography and mission while growing our network 
- Job duties may change as per business needs 
Requirements 
- 6+ years of proven experience working as a photo producer at an agency, brand or media company. Ideally in both branded and advertising content 
- Must have extensive on-set production experience (including knowledge on labor laws, unions & guilds), as well as post-production rates, timelines & budget 
- Ability to execute within timelines, with multiple stakeholders and deliver projects on time and budget 
- Must be results oriented, focusing on creating photo content that is brand-defining and innovative, working across a broad range of budgets 
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility and integrity 
- Strong knowledge and understanding of current photography trends in commercial, social, and digital media 
- Proven ability to negotiate contracts and understand all the complicated business items connected with photo production, including working knowledge of licensing and rights management 
- Must have connections and resources to staff up all types of productions (e.g. Production Teams, Photographers, Set Designers, Prop Stylists, Hair, Makeup, Wardrobe Stylists, Location Managers as well as other key production potions), and be enthusiastic in developing relationships with new vendors 
- Able to work independently with limited supervision, and communicate up, down and laterally to project stakeholders within the company in a creative, fast-paced environment - Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills 
- Ability to make quick decisions confidently without losing composure 
- Must be able to multitask and manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously - Must be extremely detail-oriented and value organization and the implementation of workflow and processes 
- Working knowledge of asset creation software and equipment such as Adobe Creative Suite, photography lighting, camera backs, lenses, etc 
- Experience working with post-production teams 
- Must be able to work outside of normal business hours as job duties or assignment requires, sometimes with little or no advance notification
