Position Summary:
The main role of the Producer is to develop, shoot, oversee edits of video projects from start to finish while hitting all deadlines, and serve as lead in all talent outreach and coordination. The producer is the main person to execute creative and maintain creative direction, create and submit budgets for approval, scriptwriting, organize shoot logistics according to deadlines, and serve as the main communicator with crew while in the field and while a piece is in edit.
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as lead executor and creative on all aspects of production, through development, shooting, post, and publication of a shoot while hitting each milestone deadline
Pitch and brainstorm new series, formats and episode ideas in creative sync with EP and Senior Producer
Develop and fully execute all greenlit pitches
Coordinate, organize, and book all elements for shoot
Determine gear (in coordination with DP), and set equipment needed
Direct all shoots and ensure all talent is properly managed and directed
Confident working with and directing high profile talent
Lead and guide AP, ensure workload is shared and direction is given to hit all deadlines
Write scripts with assistance from AP and ensure all is fact checked and legal approvals are given
Oversee post-production edits from a creative standpoint
Oversee R+C + legal approvals in coordination with AP and Production Coordinator
Coordinate and provide all delivery assets needed for piece’s publish
Experience and Qualifications:
At least 2 years experience at producer level with a proven track record at well-regarded digital production companies, or equivalent
Entrepreneurial, strong self-starting approach to work
Confidently develop, execute and oversee an edit from start to finish
Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, producing video with a rapid turnaround in high volume
Experience developing and producing repeatable video series
Diverse reference points in line with the VICE brand
Extremely aware of pop culture and entertainment industry
Extensive knowledge of experimental comedy/light-hearted documentary production
Working knowledge of cameras and related gear
Ability to write and communicate clearly
Ability to deal with multiple and changing priorities
Strong attention to details and highly organized
Open to working long hours, weekends and on rare occasion, holidays
Ability to travel nationally and internationally as needed, sometimes with short notice
Knowledge of budgeting and ability to actualize costs
Have a valid driver's license
