Job Summary:
The Assistant Merchandiser assists the VP of Design and Development with coordinating product information, sampling and data pertaining to key account support, category management as well as building merchandising tools to support channel segmentation strategy. The Assistant Merchandiser gathers information on consumer needs, the market, and our competitors, and assists with assortment and pricing analysis. The Assistant Merchandiser supports overarching category strategies, seasonal launches, product mix, and brand messaging by building customized merchandising and presentation tools for strategic accounts meetings.

Essential Functions:

• Builds presentation tools in support of the VP of Design and Development and Category Managers for use during the product development cycle and sales meetings.
• Coordinates pre-season meetings for targeted strategic accounts / direct to consumer (DTC).
• Participates in cross-functional go to market (GTM) work streams to help ensure the seasonal vision is brought to life in the channel assortments.
• Curates channel assortments and assists in segmentation that provides meaningful points of difference by channel.
• Coordinates with Marketing, Design and Sales counterparts on the execution of the seasonal tools, key items/outfit photo shoots, and visual presentation tools.
• Assists in creating and managing reports for tracking product successes and failures in the market place.
• Aids in researching the needs of customers and consumers.
• Helps analyze competitors’ products, sales programs, and collateral to aid in product line decisions.
• Helps maintain the product data base, supports Category Managers during the product briefing process, and distributes all information related to product categories encompassing line lists and data, workbook, merchandising books, and other CAD tools.
• Manages calendar and timelines tracking, and ensures that milestones are met.
Job Requirements
• A Bachelor’s Degree in product management, marketing, or merchandising or related field.
• A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in various phases of apparel development.
• An understanding of product trends and consumer behavior theory.
• Experience with active-outdoor/technical apparel and products.
• Proficiency in all Microsoft programs, particularly MS Excel spreadsheets, Word and PowerPoint.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Self-starter who brings a level of passion, enthusiasm, and focus to their day to day work .
• Able to manage to deadlines, be flexible with change, drive to timely resolution.
• Able to perform multiple complex assignments concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to adhere successfully to the NBTA Product Development Calendar.
• Ability to manage and lead change.
• Fast, efficient, nimble. Experience working in a shifting and collaborative environment with a great deal of constructive feedback and input.
• Ability to not only lead fearlessly as a contributor, but also take direction and work with a team.
• Sense of humor and a passion for what you do.
• Able to travel up to 5% of the year, including travel to trade shows and key accounts meetings as needed.
