ABOUT THE POSITION
Although we're an apparel and footwear focused company, technology is central to everything we do. Columbia Sportswears Digital Technology (CDT) team enables an IT infrastructure across four global brands, a global supply chain, and 500+ geographically dispersed stores. These teams design and support all of the various technologies and platforms used to deliver a great customer experience.

The Sr. Director, Quality Technology is a senior management role in Columbia Sportswears Digital Technology (CDT) group. This position is responsible for the development of the Quality Technology organization, including people, systems, and culture. They will partner with the business and product teams to support our business objectives by increasing quality and testing cycles through automation and accelerating time to market delivery.

This role will provide thought leadership to drive the quality strategy in an environment of fast technological changes. They will foster a collaborative environment in which software engineers in test can grow and thrive.

This position contributes to the business leadership team by actively engaging with the functional leaders to influence strategic direction and works to identify ways for CDT to support and advance business unit strategic objectives. The Sr. Director, Quality Technology requires a proven leader who can manage employees that are supporting the current business applications and drive new solutions as Columbia Sportswear Company moves forward in expanding its Global Omni-Channel business capabilities.


HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Continuously improve technology processes and practices including those supporting delivery, operations, and communities of practice.
Employ superior leadership skills to maintain and develop the teams and cultivate a partnership approach with the Columbia Sportswear business leadership across global enterprise systems.
Support the prioritization of projects, particularly using cost / benefit analysis to proactively manage business demand. Balance resource assignments and priorities to consistently support projected deployment schedules.
Drive development, performance, and talent programs through the global enterprise functions. Position is accountable for a mix of internal / external resource, some distributed, and must work collaboratively with Human Resources staff to utilize programs and tools that will meet the needs of the organization; organizational design, training, salary administration, succession planning, performance management, and hiring.
Manage and execute against delivery commitments and adoption of automation, quality, and engineering best practices.
Lead Quality experts that will ensure that products are designed and built with a quality-first mindset.
Lead Software Engineer in Test and Quality Experts that will ensure that that automated tests and other quality practices in their respective scrum teams are performed.
Raise awareness and build a strong quality mindset within the engineering organization and within the team.
Continuously deliver, measure, and learn by setting expectations and empowering your team to meet them.
Work with product managers, developers, and development managers of the different products to prioritize quality and testing opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Manage, coach and drive talent development for a team of Directors, Managers, Business Analysts, & Developers. Global team management, including regular evaluations of all staff.
Negotiates and influences the opinions and decision-making of senior executives and/or major customers on matters of significance to the organizational function, geography, or brand.
Directs the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems applying advanced analytical thought and judgment.
Prioritize work effort in collaboration with business and CDT partners and leadership.
Drive fiscal management and adhere to constraints as needed. Includes initiative program budgets, departmental budget, contractor expenses and general operating costs. Accountable for driving project capitalization and ensuring methods to capture the value of projects and initiatives.
Recruit, retain and develop world-class talent.


YOU HAVE
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field. Masters degree preferred. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree may be considered.
15+ years of progressively increasing technology Leadership and Management experience in a complex global environment.
5+ years of experience in Apparel and Footwear preferred.
Highly developed analytical skills are required for this position as well as an ability to convey these thoughts verbally.
Practical experience in software development and Agile methodologies.
Testing Automation, Tools (i.e. Selenium, CloudTest, etc.) and Scripting
Strong understanding of regression-testing, performance testing, smoke testing, ready for business testing.
Demonstrated successful project/program management, change management, training, testing, and process improvement leadership.
Demonstrated experience in managing and mentoring a team of diverse directors, managers and business system analysts and contractors on a global scale to deliver complex and reliable solutions to a diverse set of businesses and stakeholders.
Passion for engineering excellence, quality, and customer success.
Ability to positively influence people at all levels in the organization.
Understand key business processes and systems employed by the business.
Excellent organizational and presentation skills and attention to detail required.
Mental ability to conduct interpersonal interactions with senior management, vendors and other employees. Ability to operate independently and follow general guidelines.
The ability to build strong working relationships with technology stakeholders, senior business leaders, and key vendor partners.
Excellent verbal and written communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
Experience managing department budget and financials.
