ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Scrum Master role is a key member of the CDT organization. Working one or more Product Owners, Scrum Masters lead, organize and empower Agile teams in their journey of continuous improvement as they deliver fantastic products and features for Columbia Sportswear Company customers. Successful candidates should have demonstrable knowledge of Agile Ceremonies and Practices. Candidates must also have experience coaching and leading Agile teams using Scrum and Kanban.

The largest part of the scrum master job is the people. Communication skills are key as is organizing, leading and listening. It is not about the ceremonies but it is. It is about the values, principals, and spirit of Agile that make it worthwhile.

Successful scrum masters put people first, working to enable and empower their teams to be their best while building an atmosphere of respect, trust, transparency, commitment, daring and learning.

HOWYOULLMAKE A DIFFERENCE Ceremonies and Delivery: For one or more team working on complex deliverables. Schedules, facilitates and reports agreed upon scrum ceremonies, including Refinement, Sprint Planning, Stand Ups, Demos, Sprint or PI Reviews, and Retrospectives. Assist Product Owner(s) with backlog management. Coaches story estimation and feature development through encouraging small, iterative work, and value delivery. Facilitates the team in successful completion of agreed upon commitments through communication including rapid impediment identification and removal or escalation. Strong technical understanding enables them to provide highly-credible leadership and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues.
Tracking/Reporting: Using strong analytical capabilities, they can comparatively review multiple work tracks to identify discrepancies and encourage adaptive approaches to improvement across multiple scrum teams.
Agile Practices: Encourages adoption of additional ceremonies to improve adherence to agile practices using inspect and adapt approach with the team. Coaches team members on agile adoption and process. Guides teams with implementing effective agile disciplinary practices within the department. Ensures teams process evolves within organizational guidelines and standards of practice. Uphold, defend, coach and mentor agile values and principles.
Coaching and Culture: Encourages team cohesion, empowerment, and ownership of commitments. Encourage, support, and guide continuous improvement of teams, its products, and processes. Good listener who creates a culture of unity, ownership, and empowerment enabling the team to improve their process while working on critical deliveries. Able to explain difficult or sensitive information to a wide variety of stakeholders. Works to build consensus. Coaches other scrum masters on their rituals.

YOUHAVEDegree: Bachelors Degree
Experience: 5-8 years professional experience with strong competency with the various tools, systems, and procedures. A proven record of successfully implementing projects using agile methodologies, in addition to strong project management skills.
Certification: 2nd level scrum master certification (CSM, CSP). Project Management experience or certification preferred.
SDLC: Familiarity with several software development lifecycles
Area-Specific Knowledge preferred: Infrastructure: Jira, Azure DevOps, Kanban, SAFe, PI Planning, Managing Multiple Scrum Teams
