ABOUT THE POSITION
Columbia Sportswears dynamic global supply chain consists of 4 distribution centers, 430 retail stores, 80 apparel factories and 20 footwear factories worldwide and a diverse raw materials source base to support our consumer needs. We pride ourselves on being able to get products to market quickly, safely, and in the most cost-effective manner. By leveraging data analytics, we are constantly pushing to make smarter business decisions and identifying innovative ways to make Columbia Sportswears supply chain more efficient and effective to meet our consumers ever-changing needs.

As the Sr. Manager Global Apparel Materials Sourcing, you will be is responsible for leading the development and driving the execution of a global raw materials sourcing strategy for Columbia Sportswear Apparel, Accessories and Equipment. This key role will also manage the seasonal costing calendar and with Liaison Office partners engage with vendors during the seasonal costing process. A Materials Sourcing Analyst will report to this role to support the data needs to ensure alignment with finished goods strategy, optimize vendor resources and capabilities to provide sustainable profitability and delivery. This role will also partner with the supply planning organization to best execute business targets and proactively develop strategies to increase supply chain flexibility.

HOW YOULL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Collaboratively build, communicate, and maintain a Raw Materials Source Strategy that sets the direction for development teams in PDX and the LOs to execute seasonal and strategic commercialization. Ensure that the strategy manages risk, aligns with finished goods strategy and Brand strategies, and optimizes location and capability of raw material source base
Understand and leverage our suppliers capabilities and business plans and apply to support Columbia Sportswears targets and long-range plans. Utilize factory performance metrics - development, quality, delivery, cost, and compliance - to guide source selection, allocation and business planning activities.
Be a leader for continuous process improvement for material sourcing and supply chain in general. Participate on projects or solve problems that develop and impact material sourcing, costing, production flow, and other related manufacturing areas
In collaboration with Liaison Offices, develop new vendors to provide the capacity and/or product needed to support current and future needs
Engage and work with strategic Tier 3 (yarn suppliers) and Tier 4 (dyes and chemical) vendors to realize long term RM cost competitiveness, product/performance consistency and drive sustainable solutions that support corporate sustainability and financial targets
Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop, implement, and execute process, tools and strategy to evaluate supplier performance to established standards and goals
Understand global apparel industry trends, trade regulations, and company direction to maximize profitability and determine new source opportunities. In close collaboration with the Profitability team track key material cost drivers and timely communicate relevant information, with product cost implications, to appropriate stakeholders across the business
Mentor and coach members of the manufacturing team as needed and support a learning environment to strengthen employee resources. Manage with courage when required

YOU ARE
Able to deal with ambiguity and work in an evolving business environment

Experienced at successfully managing interpersonal interactions, developing, and cultivating professional relationships within and outside the company

YOU HAVE
College degree in business, apparel/textiles, manufacturing, or related experience required
10 or more years experience in apparel or other soft goods sourcing, development, merchandising, production, or a manufacturing environment required
International business experience and direct experience with global outsourced manufacturing required
Required well-developed ability to read, write, and speak English, in relation to topics of a complex or technical nature and ability to communicate with various levels of management and global employees and vendors
A comprehensive knowledge of the global raw materials source base, and garment manufacturing including, costing and functional components
Strong working knowledge of global trade agreements and regulations, standard, manufacturing practices, and planning operations
An ability to make decisions using data analysis and to operate independently with discretion
Proficient Excel skills required. Exposure to Power BI a plus
Ability to work required 50 or more hours per week at peak times, usually with 810-hour days. Attendance at evening/weekend meetings is required
Ability to travel internationally as required, approximately up to 10% of time
