ABOUT THE POSITION
Although we're an apparel and footwear-focused company, technology is central to everything we do. Columbia Sportswears Digital Technology (CDT) group enables an IT infrastructure across four global brands, a global supply chain, and 500+ geographically dispersed stores. These teams support in-store, mobile, and data platforms to enhance customer interface and service in an ever-evolving industry.
The Director, Planning Technology is a senior management role in the Global Information Services group. The position serves as a strategic partner to support planning needs across the Manufacturing, Supply Chain Operations, and Global Distribution business units. Working in partnership with architects, business partners, product management, and others, you will build the vision and roadmaps for integration across our planning landscapes as we move into a CI/CD future.
The Director, Planning Technology both understands Enterprise and department-level business objectives and align/create strategies and initiatives to enable the business by ensuring planning technical solutions deliver the required functionality in a scalable, maintainable, cost-effective, and nimble fashion. They are a subject matter expert in supporting planning needs across Retail functional areas of Materials Management (MM), and Sales and Distribution (SD).
The Director, Planning Technology requires a proven leader who can manage multiple teams that are supporting the current business applications and drive new solutions as Columbia Sportswear Company moves forward in expanding its Global Omni-Channel business capabilities.


HOWYOULLMAKE A DIFFERENCE
Develops strategies, processes and roadmaps grounded in planning capabilities that define how integration will be carried out now and in the future across our planning platforms. Requires an innovative approach as we push the next stage in automation, de-coupled integration, and CI/CD
Ensures processes and controls meet requirements for compliance purposes in integration. Works with internal controls and auditors to ensure Columbia is always improving compliance
Partner with executive teams to develop rolling 3-year technical strategy and roadmaps to support planning needs across Manufacturing, Supply Chain Operations, and Global Distribution business units
Facilitate enterprise processes for feature, capability, and strategic initiative identification, assessment, and prioritization
Continuously improve technology processes and practices including those supporting delivery, operations, and communities of practice
Work collaboratively with multiple global regions and brands to implement and support global processes and systems that meet regional needs
Ensures support of business needs and interests within CDT by assigning appropriate IS team, operational and developmental team members to appropriate projects, initiatives, and associated workstreams. Collaborates with CDT partners across Integrations, EIM, IaaS, Info Sec and others to ensure stable, secure and performant systems landscape
Applies broad industry knowledge and commercial awareness to develop operating plans and drive performance of a significant share of the organizational resources
Drive fiscal management and adhere to constraints as needed. Includes initiative program budgets, departmental budget, contractor expenses and general operating costs. Accountable for driving project capitalization and ensuring methods to capture the value of projects and initiatives
Contract and vendor management as needed across licensing needs and staff augmentation
Manages, mentors, and encourages the team; handling performance, goals and development potential and must work collaboratively with Human Resources staff to utilize programs and tools that will meet the needs of the organization; organizational design, training, salary administration, succession planning, performance management, and hiring
Recruits and hires talent for onshore and offshore roles
Collaborates with business and tech leads to settle integration requirements; develops the strategy, coordinates the development and works to resolve bottlenecks to delivery project work aligned with program timelines
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
Ensure solutions are scalable and meet overall business requirements
Be recognized as both functionally and technically advanced in the Planning Retail/Supply Chain product space
Mentor additional team resources as necessary
Ability to influence peers and leadership stakeholders
Ability to stay at the forefront of new and/or upcoming Planning solutions in order to drive the future solution roadmap for IT Product Systems
Work with leadership in prioritizing work requests from a strategic perspective
Complete work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service

Required Skills & Abilities
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field. Masters degree preferred. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree may be considered
8+ years of progressively increasing Technology Leadership and Management experience in a complex global environment, required
5+ years of experience in Apparel and Footwear preferred
Requires advanced technical and business knowledge in software development life cycle, quality assurance, project management, and other related disciplines/processes
Experience with supporting planning needs across retail & Merchandise Operations processes within Planning Materials Management (MM), and Sales and Distribution (SD)
Firm understanding of Planning workflow
Demonstrated strategic planning experience for both business and systems
Demonstrated successful project/program management, change management, training, testing, and process improvement leadership
Outstanding communications skills; able to articulate complex technical topics for non-technical audiences. Excellent organizational and presentation skills and attention to detail required. Mental ability to conduct interpersonal interactions with senior management, vendors, and other employees. Ability to operate independently and follow general guidelines
Highly developed analytical skills are required for this position as well as an ability to convey these thoughts verbally
Must understand corporate business imperatives, information technology trends, and current IT capabilities to create an integrated strategy that is compelling, realistic, and achievable
Experience driving and delivering integration strategies that include Agile practices while remaining in compliance
Ability to positively influence people at all levels in the organization
