ABOUT THE POSITION

We are looking for a Color & Material Designer II to join our team at SOREL. As a collaborative member of the team, you will combine your experience, creativity, and problem-solving skills to help create and deliver the seasonal vision through color and material application and strategy. In this role, you will bring to life trend-relevant, narrative driven concepts through research and strong consumer and market understanding.


HOWYOULLMAKE A DIFFERENCE
Design Color and Material executions for product collections while collaborating with product creation team including Product Management, Industrial Design, and Development
Actively research global trends across color, fashion, art, design industries
Participate, influence, and create color and material palettes, and collection concepts to meet the needs of our consumers
Support the development and utilization of tools to communicate design direction
Create color CADs, Material Maps and Graphic Maps
Consider and collaborate with teams on the larger impact of creating merchandized range to cross functional stakeholders
Provide support to team as needed outside of assigned product load


YOU ARE
Highly motivated with ability to push yourself, others, and the brand forward
Able to work well in a team environment; this position requires employee to engage with many stakeholders, as well as manage various information and relationships
Experienced in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Keynote on a Mac Platform
Experience building Graphic and Print designs and concepts, and explore new innovations and applications preferred


YOU HAVE
Bachelors Degree in Textiles, Materials, Apparel or Industrial Design or other relevant design field or combination of relevant education, experience, and training
At least 2-4 years industry experience
Understanding of marketplace (footwear, fashion, streetwear) consumer
Strong understanding of color and material trends, application, and cycles as well as how to achieve desired effects: materials, dyes, finishes
Ability to plan and execute the product color and material details, review all samples, troubleshoot for achievability issues, and clearly communicate changes to ensure timely completion of projects
Ability to create designs that meet category needs and commercial opportunities
