About the job
The Product Merchandiser for Footwear (mens, womens, and youth) will drive the product line management and marketplace strategies for the Columbia Footwear business in the Japan wholesale and DTC channels. As an industry, category & market expert, the job is to be the go-to person for all product related matters. Primary responsibility will be to liaise with the sales team, production management team and marketing, and be the voice of our market. Building good relationships and collaborating with the US headquarters are required.
Responsibilities:
Build compelling briefs and storytelling for our consumers with a strong product foresight and deep product experience.
Build and implement the line plan for the product line that supports the categorys seasonal strategies and delivers growth.
Work closely with the external design & development vendors for JDS, managing resources to complete the seasonal product strategies, assortments, and business needs.
Build and sustain positive relationships with key cross functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Planning) and global partners.
Present the seasonal product line to internal & external stakeholders effectively in multifaceted settings.
Performs other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelors Degree or above
3+ years of experience as a product merchandiser in the outdoor or fashion industry
Thorough knowledge of product merchandising of sports/outdoor and/or casual footwear
Ability to read, write, and speak English, and collaborate with overseas colleagues and/or business partners
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Passion for footwear and outdoor activities
Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook required; Illustrator & PDM systems are plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations
Detail oriented & accountable to deliverables; must check their own work before handing off to next team member
Strong team player, positive disposition & flexible attitude
Self-starter, proactive, inquisitive, creative, problem solver
