About the job
Finance Manager is a key member of the Japan Finance Team, responsible for general accounting matters, month-end close, reconciliations, and evaluating transactions for proper accounting treatment in US GAAP. Finance Manager is the point of contact for local tax related matters and works closely with members of the US parent company across multiple areas of finance. Additional responsibilities include active identification of issues, improvement of business processes and assisting with the preparation of internal financial reports.
Responsibilities:
Manage financial accounting, based US GAAP / aligned with Japan GAAP
Supervise Revenue Accounting, Accounts Payables, Fixed Assets and Treasury
Establishing monthly accounting reserves to mitigate risk and reflect current business and market conditions
Monthly, quarterly, and annual book closing and reporting
Comply with SOX regulations and data security rules
Local tax execution supported by tax consulting company
Local cash management in line with instruction from HQ treasury
Represent finance and accounting functions for all IT projects including full ERP upgrade
Manage 7 accounting staff
Work closely with FP&A and other business divisions in Japan
Regular communication and consultation with HQ accounting, treasury, credit, and tax staff
Lead contact for SOX testing and compliance with internal and external auditors
Basic Qualifications:
A bachelors degree or above
7 years or more experience in finance and accounting area
Prior experience managing an accounting department including success in coaching and developing talent
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet challenging deadlines while maintaining accuracy and risk mitigation
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Fluent English communication in oral and writing (above TOEIC 800)
PC skill (Excel, Word, Access)
Innovative, flexible, and excellent interpersonal skill
Good team player as a leader
Energetic, self-starter and stable and proactive to work in fast & challenging environment
Experience:
Working experience at consumer goods industry strongly preferred
Working experience at subsidiary of foreign company preferred
US CPA or equivalent preferred
