About the job

The Demand Planner is responsible for style-color level forecasts for specific categories from pre-season estimates to in-season monthly demand forecasts using historical data, statistical projections, and market feedback. Facilitate consensus meeting to incorporate all functional demand forecast into one number and monitor and maintain the consensus forecast throughout the season. Forecast confidence, opportunities and risks need to be effectively communicated to cross-functional partners such as buyers, merch, supply planners and finance.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

Develop style-color level demand forecast using JDA statistical forecast and deliver the aligned numbers through cross-functional consensus meeting

Continuously analyze and reforecast demand to improve forecast accuracy to ensure commercial and functional target achievement

Develop buying forecast at style-color-channel level through simulating appropriate safety stock, display and presentation minimum for inventory optimization

Help management improve the forecasting model and process, through in-depth analysis of inputs to the forecast.

Determine and communicate forecast confidence, including risks and opportunities, to the Supply Planners.

Serve as a training resource to other Demand Planners.

Secondary Functions:

Drive improvements in forecast accuracy by developing KPI’s, analyzing and tracking KPI results, and recommending forecasting policies and procedures.

Participate and provide analysis to help drive line planning.

Attend all Go-To-Market Meetings for assigned categories and provide Merchants with style level performance analysis.

Support global corporate forecast process and regional data extraction to global

Contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization by maintaining positive, open lines of communication with all company management, staff and other departments and office locations.

Job Scope:

Job is frequently varied and often includes new or unique work assignments involving a moderate to high degree of complexity.  Variety is seen in working with various product lines and functional areas.  Complexity is found in optimizing number of factors involved with production planning and multiple conflicting priorities.  Work is checked or verified by results.  Decisions are made within general department policy constraints. Errors in judgment can adversely affect efficiency of operations causing increased costs and/or lost sales opportunities.

Interpersonal Contacts:

Interactions with others focus on information exchange and problem solving.  Discussions will frequently involve confidential forecasts and other non-public and/or sensitive company information.  Incumbent will be considered a company insider and subject to the company’s insider trading policy.  Communication often involves subjects of a technical nature.  Incumbent usually initiates contacts on his/her own with 50% being by phone/email and the remainder via face-to-face interaction.

Experience in key planning functions including demand forecasting, demand planning and merchandise planning
Significant experience using Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets, charts and pivot tables; using of functions such as sumif, vlookup, and similar.

Desired:
Experience using global demand and supply planning system
Previous work with other cultures in a business setting, and awareness of and sensitivity to cultural differences.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent work experience. MBA beneficial.

Experience:

Minimum 5-7 years experience in demand or merchandise planning
Apparel/footwear industry experience desired.
International business experience desired.



Job Conditions:

Job requires hours that may occasionally exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week during times of peak activity.  Evening meetings and/or weekend work occasionally required to collaborate with people in other time zones and to ensure timely project completion.  Some job pressure exists in the balancing of several projects with conflicting and sometimes changing deadlines.

Position requires the ability to travel worldwide on commercial transportation.  Travel may be required up to 4 weeks per year, occasionally including weekends for sales or customer meetings/events and/or visits to international planning offices.
