ABOUT THE POSITION? 
Columbia Sportswear Company Finance & Accounting teams oversee the financial health and forward strategy for a portfolio of four global brands. These teams exercise expertise across Compliance, Credit, Financial Planning and Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Procurement and Strategy.?Advancing traditional Finance & Accounting functions, the organization is also driving exciting innovation in the application of advanced analytics and automated intelligence. 

The Capital Assets Accounting Manager will play a leadership role in the Corporate and North America Accounting Team, responsible for all matters relating to the accounting for owned and leased capital assets. This encompasses acquisition, recording, tracking, depreciating, valuation, and disposition activities. While this position does not have direct reports, it is responsible for the oversight and monitoring of daily tasks performed by fixed asset and lease accountants in Columbia’s Shared Services Accounting team based in our India office. 

This role is a key business partner to cross functional departments such as IT, facilities, retail and distribution operations, and other Finance functions. Accordingly, the Capital Assets Account Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining the Company’s global accounting policies and procedures for capital assets and leases. In addition, the Capital Assets Accounting Manager contributes to the capital approval process with executive leadership by providing decision-making on capital versus expense determination. 
 
HOW?YOU’LL?MAKE A DIFFERENCE? 
Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with the Company’s global capital asset and lease accounting policies and procedures for the proper recording and valuation of capital assets, while ensuring appropriate level of internal controls; Drive continuous improvement of existing processes and procedures 

 Oversee global lease accounting policies and processes, including development and oversight of centralized or shared services for key aspects of lease accounting and reporting 

Active engagement with CSC’s Sr Director of Real Estate and team during lease negotiations/extensions, for monthly rent payment review, landlord reporting, and issue resolution with landlords (CAM reconciliations, audits, etc.) 

Execute and/or review month-end close activities including journal entry, account reconciliations and account analyses. Prepare deliverables to support the financial reporting team processes for internal and external purposes (SEC financial statements and footnotes, board of director reporting, etc.); Provide periodic management reporting and analysis over global fixed assets and leased assets 

Manage all aspects of capital asset accounting and reporting from initial approval to disposal for all North America entities; Assist international teams with implementation of accounting guidance over fixed assets and leases 

Support project managers by analyzing project plans for capitalization determination and by monitoring & reporting capitalized costs through the life of the projects.?Projects will include software - internally develop or acquired – and Retail store builds and remodels. The role will work closely with FP&A and business managers to monitor project cost performance 

Monitor, assess and record asset impairment of capital assets, including retail stores. Engage and work with Finance and Accounting leadership as necessary to support proper accounting and disclosure of impairment events 

Interface with compliance and internal and external auditors for Sarbanes-Oxley and audit related matters; responsible for providing necessary supporting documentation

Skilled in teaching, leading and mentoring team members. Proven experience managing accounting staff

YOU?HAVE? 
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA strongly preferred  

Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience and 1 to 3 years’ experience leading or mentoring staff accountants. Experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, and within a large multinational, publicly held company highly preferred 

Strong US GAAP experience and technical accounting knowledge, with preference for experience in fixed assets, project, and leases and retail industry experience 

Advanced knowledge of SAP, MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint), and reporting and analytical tools (TM1). Experience with lease accounting software experience a plus 

Experience working in regional environment with multiple countries and local requirements 

Experience with identifying and applying complex accounting treatment to business contracts 


Job Conditions: 
Job requires hours that may occasionally exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week during times of peak activity. Early morning or evening meetings are required to manage and collaborate with people in other time zones and to ensure timely project completion. Some job pressure exists in the balancing of several projects with conflicting and sometimes changing deadlines.
