POSITION SUMMARY
As the Supv-Graphics, you will lead a team of production artists by applying a solid understanding of design and production knowledge coupled with the ability to problem solve, manage operational and organizational efficiencies and processes. This will be achieved by working with the design manager and/or design director to build out seasonal and long-term strategies for the department. A passion for people, process, calendar awareness and collaborative mindset will ensure success of your team. You guide and influence others either internally and externally and are an expert in converting technical information to compelling business context. Through collaboration and leadership, you will lead a team of production artists to commercialize global product that connects the Columbia consumer to their outdoor passions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead production artists in exploring new ways to create AP's. Keep on top of new processes that may influence and direct Artwork Packages and schematics. This includes inline and SRT graphic trackers.
Collaborate with design manager and design director to understand seasonal and long-term design initiatives and apply that knowledge to the production team. Manage team to ensure the seasonal direction is met.
Work with Color Design Manager on calendar timelines and hand-offs
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure proper tools are being created.
Excellent verbal and communication skills with cross-functional partners. Guides and influences seniors and PA 2. May aid in training and/or mentoring PA 1.
High level of knowledge of the graphic strike-off process. Manages and directs the process.
Guides and influences department processes and best practices that ensure efficient outcomes and first-time right product
Guides and approves training and training materials. Works closely with upstream and downstream partners to keep abreast of needs.
Guides and manages the departments initiatives: technology, efficiencies, sustainability, etc. Sees future needs/opportunities and directs and adjusts team accordingly
Train new team members as needed
Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree, applicable certification or equivalent experience
3+ years management experience in graphics and/or production art.
Experience in the outdoor industry preferred, but not required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilitieso High level knowledge of screen printing and color separation techniques.
o Proficient with MAC environment and the Adobe Suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
o Leads with diplomacy to exchange information and handle sensitive issues. Communicates and simplifies complex production problems and works to build team consensus. Leads in the coordination of information to ensure ongoing collaboration and program execution. Ability to negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view. Leads in process optimization and seeks out efficiencies.
o Provides leadership in the area of business acumen and displays a strong 'big picture' understanding of the business. Understands how production integrates within the larger company. Leads the conversation with key business partner functions, including development processes, merchandising procedures, materials, and production techniques for maximum cross functional alignment.
o Ability to self-manage and operate independently and with discretion and work effectively under pressure. Provides training and leadership for other team members. Key role in planning and coordinating employees for projects or tasks. Will contribute input to the performance review.
o Working knowledge of the principles, practices and concepts within own job discipline; has broadened capability through practical experience in applying theories.



LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY
Supervisory responsibility of tactical and non-tactical work through semi-independent leadership, which includes setting objectives and coaching employees on their performance. Manages a group of a variety of professional and non-professional roles.

Support of Global Apparel assortments by leading and commercializing seasonal graphics, color ways, visual documents, and trend presentations
Uses judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems. Guided by team goals, decisions impact the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of their own team. Impacts related teams through quality of output and service provided.
Guides projects with a moderate to high amount of complexity and solves problems with independence. Work performed will have significant impact to the global product assortment.
Internal contacts occur primarily with other leaders of the Graphic and Apparel design departments, Product Development, Merchandising and Operations. Contacts may involve confidential or sensitive information and can occur face to face or via email.
Decisions are made within prescribed company policy guidelines and constraints. Errors in judgment or the performance of job duties may lead to poorly executed graphics or trims, which may in turn result in customer non-acceptance, delivery delays, financial losses, and a negative impact on the company's reputation and credibility.


JOB CONDITIONS
May require domestic or international travel.
Job may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week, depending on the time of season.
Physical capability to sit for extended periods of time, bend, stoop, kneel, walk or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to work in a demanding, fast paced environment, with a high level of adaptability. Some pressure may exist when facing deadlines.
Mental ability to conduct complex interpersonal interactions with employees and customers, troubleshoot, design, coordinate and perform special task/projects simultaneously, and work effectively under pressure.
